It’s been a great year for beauty. New discoveries, awesome launches and everything in between and although it’s a little hard to believe that I’m sitting here to start writing up my yearly favourites, here we are. I’ll be coming at you today with my top skincare, bodycare, haircare and everything in-between and then in a couple of days, I’ll be rounding up the best of makeup. I always love reading these kinds of posts so hopefully, you enjoy, too!

I fell a little bit in love with Moogoo this year – awesome, natural skincare from a brand that really listens to customer feedback? I’m on board. My top pick is their Milk Wash. A fuss-free, everyday cleanser that would work for anyone. It feels so lovely on the skin and leaves it feeling cleansed but without stripping the skin. I love using it every morning in the shower, paired with my Clarisonic, and on evenings when I haven’t worn makeup during the day. This is a boyfriend-approved option, too, which is probably why I’m onto my second bottle.
This was the year that I finally got to try out Glossier and I’m so glad my intro to the brand was in the form of their Milky Jelly Cleanser. It’s another super comforting, hydrating cleanser – my favourite kind – and it smells absolutely incredible, too. I’ve been savouring this bottle because it’s so hard to get in Australia but one pump is enough to cleanse the whole face perfectly each evening. If you’re planning a Glossier haul, make sure to add this to your cart.
I’ve been blathering on about this one all year because it’s just so. good. It’s my go-to before special events, my go-to when my skin is breaking out and well, pretty much whenever my skin needs a pick me up. A quick scrub with this paste makes such a huge difference to my skin. It feels softer, it looks glowier and any active breakouts clear up much quicker. It’s pricey, yes, but in my opinion, well worth the investment if you need an exfoliating option that’ll leave your skin feeling brand new.
This missed out on 2016’s round-up, but only because I’d only had it in my routine for a couple of months at the time but of course, it’s hardly left my routine all year. Keeping this as a constant in my routine has lead to a year of pretty good skin. It does away with texture, with dark spots and with breakouts. There’s a lot of hype around this one but trust me, it lives up to every claim.
Another constant in my routine, rosehip oil. I find my skin just laps the stuff up – leaving it feeling nourished and hydrated. I’ve tried a couple this year but will always come back to the Rosehip Plus formula. I find that a couple of others I’ve tried end up making my skin feel more congested than before but that’s never the case with RHP. Instead, it hydrates and really makes such a difference when my skin’s throwing a tantrum.
I’ve had this one in my collection for a couple of months and it’s fair to say that I’ll be keeping a bottle of this on hand always, from now on. Whenever I feel a spot coming up under the skin, I pop some of this on and magically, it disappears almost overnight. This has been a godsend this year and one of my top recommendations if, like me, you struggle with those blind, painful spots.
It’s always my new year’s beauty resolution to use more face masks and although I never quite follow through, this year I have been a little better. Keeping this handy little tub in my bathroom, front and center has really helped. A couple of minutes with this on and you can really see the difference. It really clears up congestion and it’s perfect for when my skin is just being a little difficult. Unfortunately, I’ve finished off my tub of the stuff but it still needed a mention.

Honestly, I’ve stuck to my pretty boring routine for most of the year but this oil is something new that rocked my world. There’s nothing better for frazzled ends, unwanted frizz, and a solid dose of hydration to my hair. I use this one all the time – when I get out of the shower, I take a couple of drops through while it’s still wet. But my favourite way to use it is after straightening my hair. It takes away all of the frizz and makes it look shiny and healthy – total win.
Another favourite that’s stuck with me all year. When I wash my hair, I always make sure to comb a dollop of this through my hair afterwards for just a little more hydration. I really notice the difference it makes when I air dry my hair, in particular. The Desert Date range does wonders for me and although I’ve been mixing and matching shampoos and conditioners, this leave-in cream always remains a constant in my routine.

When taking these shots, I couldn’t find this heavenly lip balm anywhere but I assume it’s hidden in a handbag pocket somewhere. Whenever I feel my lips getting dry, I put on a generous helping of this overnight and by morning, they’re good as new. I have a lot of favourite lip balms but this is my top heavy-duty option that fixes any situation.
I fell in love with the nourishing Almond Milk & Honey range earlier in the year and this shower cream is my top pick. I find some of the scents at The Body Shop too overpowering but this one is just perfect for me. This really is a shower cream, leaving your skin feeling super soft and hydrated. Unfortunately, this is another one I don’t have on hand at the moment but I couldn’t resist adding it in.
I never thought I’d be the kind of person with a favourite shower gel, let alone two, but here we are. In the second half of the year, this has been my go-to for mornings when I really need a pick me up. The zingy scent has really grown on me and now I can’t get enough of it to get me energised in the morning. It suds up beautifully, without stripping the skin of moisture, and leaves me feeling super clean and super awake.
Okay, so maybe I can be a little bit extra sometimes with my showering routine but this body conditioner, another step I add in occasionally after shower gel, is just so luxurious. The rose scent is so beautiful and slathering this all over my legs after shaving is always a good idea. This has become a must-have for me, particularly in the winter.

These gorgeous nail polishes have been my nail discovery of the year, falling into my favourites amongst Essie and OPI. Every shade I’ve tried (and there have been many) have applied beautifully and lasted for ages on my nails. Super impressed with this formula. The shade range is full of awesome options and weirdly enough, they smell good, too?
I’ve only had this for a couple of months but I can already tell you I’m obsessed with this scent. From my first sniff I knew that it was right up my alley – it’s a little fruity, a little sweet, a little white floral-y and perfect for everyday wear. Definitely make sure to give it a go next time you’re in a Sephora. I can’t wait to pick up a full-size bottle.
