So I got myself up this morning and made my way to my local Priceline, wallet in one hand, basket in the other. And the damage. was. done. Of course, the last thing I needed was new makeup, especially a couple of weeks off going overseas, but I can hardly resist 50% off. And there’s always exciting new things on my list to try. Nevertheless, I was well-behaved. Deciding on a budget before heading in and ending up way under it – it’s the little wins. I had a rough list of things I wanted to check out, most of which I found in store, so I’m happy with my new bits and pieces. If you’re after recommendations for what to pick up, you know where to go, otherwise, keep reading to see what I picked up this time around!
The new range of colour correcting primers from Australis definitely intrigued me and after having a bit of a play with them all, I settled on Pink Lady, for it’s brightening and illuminating claims. There have been plenty of new launches from Australis that caught my attention, so I spent plenty of time at their stand checking everything out.
A repurchase, of course, even though I just purchased one in August, so I have a back up when my current one runs out! For $5 on sale, I can’t believe how much I love this powder. It’s an every day essential for me and I’m always a little worried they might discontinue it, which is maybe why I’m hoarding backups…
I spent a bit of time at the Savvy stand (as I recommend you do, too) to check out the new products they’ve got in the range, as there’s plenty of awesome looking bits and pieces. But I ended up settling for a blush shade, after swatching it and falling a little bit in love. It’s got a hint of sheen to it and looks like a beautiful winter-spring transition shade. If it performs as well as it swatches then I’ll be very impressed with this blush that cost me three dollars on sale.
I reached for my well-loved Bad to the Bronze last weekend and realised it had dried out quite a bit. But considering how long it’s been in my collection, this isn’t too surprising. So I thought it was time to pick up a new one to replace it with. This is such a gorgeous shade to throw all over the lid so I’m excited to get stuck in to this fresh pot.
Another Australis launch that’s had me very intrigued, the swatches of these loose pigments totally drew me in. I went for the gorgeous neutral-taupe shade but I think I might need to find the champagne shade in stores tomorrow. These look absolutely gorgeous so I can’t wait to pat this shade all over the center of the lid when I’m getting a little bit more glammed up.
I had my fingers crossed that my local Priceline would have a Models Own stand and was very excited to spot it when I was doing my shopping. I played with just about everything but settled for this beautiful neutral eyeshadow palette. The shades are beautiful, with a great mix of mattes and shimmer. And the swatches look very promising – can’t wait to try this one on the eyes.
Models Own Barely There Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve been making an effort to experiment with more budget brow products lately, so picked up this pencil from Rimmel that sounded very interesting. Combining the ease of the pencil with the power of fibres to add volume? I’m looking forward to trying it. I’m hoping that the blonde shade in the range will suit me…
Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara
After hearing Tati raving about this, I couldn’t resist adding it to my basket. And I have high hopes, too, because I’ve loved so many Essence mascaras in the past. It sounds like it has fibres in it, to really lengthen the lashes. And that definitely sounds like the kind of mascara for me. Annoyingly, it’s nowhere to be seen on the Priceline site…
I’ve had these on my mind for a while now, after seeing swatches all over my Instagram feed. So these were one of the first products I’d put on my little wishlist. Australis have plenty of awesome lip products in their line-up so I’m hoping these are just as great. Slay looks like my kind of shade, too.
Savvy Silky Pink, Maybelline Bad To The Bronze, Australis Tantalising Taupe, Australis Slay
I also couldn’t resist stocking up on my favourite brushes while they were 50% off. They’re a good deal at the best of times so I grabbed a back-up of two brushes that I use very regularly. The Airbrush brush is a favourite to apply tinted moisturisers and BB creams and the Dual Purpose Powder & Bronzer brush is my go-to every morning to set my under eye area and t-zone with loose powder. But I also love it for bronzer.
I also grabbed a new one to try out, thinking the shape looked perfect to apply bronzer with. It smells a little more chemical-y than others from the MP range but I’m hoping it’s the same quality as the others I’ve tried and loved in the past.
