I tend to go through love affairs with brands, every once in a while. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. I try one product from a brand, fall in love, and want to try everything else they have to offer. And over the last couple of months, that’s been the case with me and Cover FX. They really seem to know what they’re doing when it comes to complexion products. As I mentioned back in July, there have been plenty of products from the brand on my radar. And luckily, they’ve all exceeded expectations. Here are a couple of Cover FX products that I’ve been loving lately.
I love loose setting powders. They’re a daily essential for me, so it’s no wonder that I love trying out new ones. Especially ones that have been receiving a lot of great reviews. I grabbed this setting powder through ShopandBox a couple of weeks ago, after taking advantage of an Ulta deal to bring it down to half price. And since then, I’ve hardly been reaching for anything else. It’s always kind of hard to discern a difference between translucent powders but I’ve been applying this under the eyes and all over my face and it does a bit of everything – perfecting the skin and improving longevity. I’m also loving the packaging of this one, with a cap on the inside to stop powder going everywhere. Now to find a small version to take overseas with me…

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a little lazy when it comes to setting sprays. And really, I have no excuse because I literally have them all sitting on top of my desk. But when I’m running late, it’s a step that often gets forgotten about. So I’ve made a point of having this one front and center on my desk, every time I do my makeup so I can’t forget. And now I can understand why people swear by this final step.
A couple of spritzes of this makes everything come together beautifully and most importantly, keeps me matte throughout the day. This has been particularly important for me as we head into the warmer weather, as my t-zone has been getting a little oilier than normal. It also improves longevity and makes sure that any powders aren’t sitting on the skin. If you’re on the oilier side of the spectrum, this is definitely worth checking out. It’s not the most heavy duty I’ve tried but it remains one of my favourites.
I’ve had Cover FX’s Custom Enhancer Drops in my drawers for a while now and was always a little intimidated by them. Liquid illuminators are a little tricky to get right, if you’re a noob like me, but I’ve been trying my hardest to reach for them more lately and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I’ve been using it two ways – mixed in with foundation, to add a bit of healthy glow to my foundations and applied directly to the cheeks and blended out (with a sponge, for the best results) after applying foundation.
I find that the shade Moonlight has been a great shade for me, heading into summer, as long as I go easy on the application as it can be a little too pigmented on it’s own. I also love Celestial, and find that’s probably a better match for me when applied by itself. But when mixed in with foundation, Moonlight adds a gorgeous, slightly golden glow to the skin – perfect for the warmer weather.
As for powder highlights, well this is more on the subtle side of things, when compared to their liquid illuminators. But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been reaching for it constantly. We all know that some days, I like to go for a subtler glow. And lately, this has been my go-to.
When swatched, it doesn’t look like much. It doesn’t have the same shimmery factor that a lot of my favourites do, but on the skin it just gives the perfect, lit-from-within appearance to the skin without ever looking over the top. If you want to look glowy but find a lot of those hyped up highlighters look too intense on your skin for a casual minimal makeup look, give this a swatch and see how perfect it is for everyday wear.
Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight (swatched heavily & blended in), Perfect Light Highlighter in Sunlight.
Personally, I’m looking forward to trying out even more from the Cover FX range. Again and again, their products have impressed me and I’m sure there are more gems in their range that are just waiting to be found.
