Since the very beginning of my makeup obsession, Mecca has had a special place in my heart. I can still remember my first time stepping foot inside a store – I was instantly enamoured by the NARS display, in love with all of the fragrances and just generally feeling in. my. element. And today, the love affair continues. I still get excited about their monthly new releases and could spend hours in my local store if left unattended. And I’m sure a lot of Australians feel the same way.
So getting the chance to join in the 20th birthday celebrations is incredibly special. Twenty years of working so hard to bring hard-to-find beauty brands to Australian shores and offering seriously awesome customer service experiences. It’s only fair that they celebrate hard. Luckily, this means a million and one exciting Mecca-exclusive launches are coming our way next week. And I thought it was a good idea to get all the info, the pics and the prices in one spot so you can start compiling your wishlist now. I’ve also included some swatches of some of the bits I’ve been lucky enough to receive already.
There’s beautiful packaging, plenty of best-sellers and so many minis. And I know how beauty junkies feel about awesome value minis… The Mecca 20 exclusive range of makeup, skincare, fragrance and more, launches online and in-store on the 4th of October, Wednesday of next week. Let’s have a look at everything you can get your hands on.
A set of two of Lanolip’s cult-favourite 101 ointment, for an awesome price. Think of the ointment as a ‘superbalm’ – people use it on their lips, on their cuticles and even as brow gel.
Of course, Mecca Cosmetica are getting in on the celebrations. The Lip De-Luscious from their line-up is such an awesome lip balm, and this shimmering peach shade looks absolutely stunning – definitely worth checking out if you love a glossy peachy lip.
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick formula is a favourite at Mecca, so it’s awesome that they’ve developed a shade just for the store. Mecca is a soft peachy-pink shade that dries a little darker than it appears in the tube. It also comes in a set that you’ll see later in this post…
A gorgeous little golden makeup bag, housing Winky Lux’s two best-selling lipstick shades. Their Pink Flower Balm (which are absolutely incredible) and the Double Matte Whip Liquid Lipstick in Angel Food.
A great little intro kit to the Billion Dollar Brows range. This super cute metallic pouch comes with a mini spoolie brush, some mini tweezers and a mini of their Universal Brow Pencil. Also perfect for travelling!
Ellis Faas was inspired to create a brand-new and exclusive lipstick shade, L400M for the occasion, taking inspiration from Mecca’s bright pink.
A gorgeous duo with a lipstick and a lip gloss from the Gen Nude line, that I absolutely love. The lipstick shade is Kitty, a peachy pink and the lip gloss comes in Cosmic, a very complementary peachy shade.
$46AUD, unavailable in NZ
It looks as if we’re finally getting the launch of Bobbi Brown’s latest lipstick release – all in special Mecca 20 packaging. There’s 20 shades to choose from and I can assume you I’ll be swatching these in store very soon.
A stunning lip line-up of Urban Decay’s best-selling Vice Lipsticks shades. All in a handy lipstick palette, with a lip brush included. And yet again, the Mecca-exclusive packing is just beautiful.
NARS have gone hard on the Mecca20 celebrations and I’m very excited about it. First up, they’ve brought out 5 new shades in their beautiful Audacious Lipstick formula – two nudes, two reds and a plum. I received four of them, which you can see swatches below. You can also grab all five in a gorgeous set, which you can read about a little later on.
Bella, Margot, Delphine, Isabella
The second product in the Mecca Cosmetica line-up is a reintroduction of the Lit From Within powder that came out last holiday season. In stunning rose gold packaging, I think this will be a best-seller.
I haven’t heard much about the Ilia range but this trio of moisturising tinted lip conditioners looks seriously tempting. The set contains three of Mecca’s best-selling shades – a nude, a red and a deeper wine shade, from the looks of it.
An awesome little duo of Lipstick Queen’s two best-selling lipstick shades. Frog Price is their very famous green-to-pink shade and Nude Sinner is a stunning, pigmented nude shade.
Too Faced’s addition to the Mecca 20 line-up is beautiful. The packaging is so sweet and the shades inside are a lovely collection of neutrals and purple shades – both mattes and shimmers. I believe this is a repromote of a previously LE palette from the holidays, but in Mecca-exclusive packaging.
Feelin’ Good, Life’s A Party, Sequin, Over-Served, Forever Young, Party Crasher
Funfetti, Girl Gang, Pop Fizz Clink!, After Party, You’re So Fancy, All Nighter
I’ve already touched on Stila’s new shade with the name ‘Mecca’ but it’s also available in an awesome set with two best-sellers from the brand. The set includes the liquid lip, a full size of their Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner as well as a deluxe mini of their Huge Lash Mascara.
$70AUD, unavailable in NZ
A gorgeous set of lips and lashes. Included in this set is a Be Legendary Liquid Lip in Petal Metal, an Always On Liquid Lipstick in Demand, an Indecent Exposure mascara (I actually really love this mascara) and a cute little exclusive Smashbox patch. A great introduction to the Smashbox brand.
On top of the beautiful Audacious Lipstick shades they’ve released, NARS have also brought out a set of six mini Velvet Lip Glides. Six shades, all of which I’m obsessed with, all housed in a beautiful mirrored, zip-up pouch.
Night Together, Rapture, Californiacation, Immoral, Staying Alive, Burning Love
This one’s flown under the radar a little bit but this eyeshadow line-up from By Terry is absolutely beautiful. Inspired by Mecca 20’s peaches and pink tones, I can’t wait to swatch this in store.
This is such a dreamy duo from RMS – perfect for those who love dewy complexion. It contains the famed RMS Living Luminiser as well as the new Magic Luminisier. The Magic Luminiser is more a champagne when compared to the Living Luminiser.
$100 AUD, $109NZD
These Hourglass trios always catch my eye and this is probably the product pick from the Mecca 20 line-up. A trio of shades – a powder – Luminous Light, a blush shade that’s exclusive to the palette, and inspired by the Mecca colour scheme, in Mecca Birthday Light, and a bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. The shades are absolutely beautiful so I think this one will be flying off the shelves.
Luminous Light, Mecca Birthday Glow, Luminous Bronze Light
A beautiful trio of rosy eyeshadows, in luxe Chantecaille packaging – this looks super beautiful. It contains the shades Rose Gold, Carnelian and Rose Quartz.
A collection of three ‘books’ of makeup – cheek products, contour powders and eyeshadows – to help people emulate Kevyn Aucoin’s makeup look. These look super cute and come with step-by-step instructions, I believe.
The most luxurious set from NARS, coming with the five exclusive Audacious Lipsticks that I mentioned earlier, in a keepsake Mecca20 x NARS box.
A coffee body scrub that smells like birthday cake? That sounds just too good to be true. Frank’s very famous body scrub remains one of my favourites but this LE scent will be a favourite, I think.
A specially packaged set of Hydro Gel Patches. One for eyes, one for the forehead, one for the smile lines and one for the lips. A great introduction to the Skyn Iceland line.
The Rum Body Wash is a best-seller for Malin + Goetz and Mecca – I know it’s a favourite of my partner’s – so they’ve put it in a special bottle inspired by Mecca’s gorgeous Mecca20 orange.
$40AUD, unavailable in NZ
An awesome introduction set of Clinique skincare, with a beautiful makeup bit in there too. This set includes minis of their Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser, Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm (my all-time fave) and a Pop Matte Lip Colour & Primer.
This is another top pick for me, in the skincare category, with three awesome minis of Origins’ famous masks. Who wouldn’t love minis of the Clear Improvement, Drink Up Intensive and Out Of Trouble face masks?
$42AUD, unavailable in NZ
A new addition to the Renewed Hope In A Jar range, which I absolutely love. This time, in the form of a refreshing mist. Sounds like a great option for application before makeup to prep the skin and leave it nice and happy.
A great looking little intro kit to the James Read brand. It comes with a H20 Mini Face Mist, a mini Sleep Mask Tan Body and a mini Tan Accelerator.
A couple of super cute, perfect-for-travel masks from Korres – from their Beauty Shots line that launched recently at Mecca. It’s got a Grape Deep Exfoliating Mask, a Natural Clay Deep Cleansing Mask, the Nectarine Rich Moisturising Mask and the Grapefruit Instant Brightening Mask.
$52AUD, unavailable in NZ
Another travel essentials kit that looks well worth picking up, if you want to try out some things from the Lancome range. It’s got a mini of their Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate and Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Eye Cream for skincare and a mini Hypnose Drama Mascara and Le Crayon Kohl for the eyes.
For those that can’t justify forking out full price on the GlamGlow products, this trio is awesome to try out the range. It includes a minis of the YouthMud Treatment, the SuperMud Clearing Treatment and GlowStarter Moisturiser – some awesome bits from the range.
A trio of favourites from Mario Badescu. Starting off with the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, treating with the Rose Hips Mask and finishing off with the Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater.
A repackaged REN best-seller – this mask is awesome for leaving behind glowy, clear skin. And this time, they’ve released it with special Mecca20 packaging.
Everyone seems to love the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, so I’m sure the addition of an adorable, embroidered sleep mask to accompany the mist will be very welcomed.
A travel-size set of Kate Somerville skincare goodies. ExfoliKate is the range’s best-selling product, plus the ExfoliKate Cleanser and the DermalQuench Liquid Lift. The collection is designed to smooth wrinkles and firm skin.
A set that looks to be great value, with two of Eve Lom’s most successful products. Their famous Cleanser, their Rescue Mask and a very handy flannel to wash it all off.
I’ve personally been dying to try more of the Drunk Elephant skincare range and this looks like a great chance. With a trio of mini best-sellers. These include the T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, C-Firma Day Serum and B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. This one might need to be mine…
A familiar Dennis Gross moisturiser with a bit of a Mecca 20 packaging update.
Another skincare brand that I don’t hear about a lot, but this set is great opportunity to get familiar with the brand. All housed in a vegan leather pouch, the set comes with their Super Eye Serum, Super Facial Serum, Night Cream and Reviving Eye Mask.
A specially packaged, splurge-worthy balm with plenty of anti-ageing benefits.
Bumble and Bumble have brought out this set of three ‘leatherette’ hair ties, which look like they have bows in them. Super cute!
These gorgeous pouches have been included in the Mecca Cosmetica range for a while now, but this rose gold one is sure to be a favourite for plenty of people.
A very luxe Mecca20-inspired glass water bottle.
Some exclusive packaging of the very popular Santal 26 candle. A little leathery, a little smokey and a very special investment piece.
A bit of a splurge-y item, but I’ve heard plenty of good things about the Fornasetti candles. This white floral candle is launching first, exclusively at Mecca, before launching worldwide next year.
If you really feel like celebrating this pricey, but incredibly luxe Frederic Malle perfume could be worth a sniff. The fragrance is from their regular line-up but they’ve released the perfume with a unique Mecca20 sleeve packaging for the occasion.
What will you be picking up from the Mecca20 launch?
