I’m wondering when the day will come where I can confidently say I know how to do my brows. Some days I get it right but often, I have no idea what I’m doing. So that’s why normally, I stay in my comfortable little routine of brow products – they create shape and definition and they’re foolproof for a noob like me. But I’ve been trying my hardest lately to branch out a little and expand my horizons. Luckily, I’ve been rewarded with plenty of new brow product loves.
AVAILABLE FROM: Colourpop.
I already mentioned how I’ve been reaching for this one a lot more lately in my monthly favourites but I wanted to touch on it again. This mini little brow nib has been great for emulating the look of teeny little brow hairs and I’ve been reaching for it a lot. However, I don’t love that this one’s a bit crumbly. If I twist the pencil up too much, the formula breaks easily. Meaning that for a while there, I was going through this one at a great rate. Now I’ve worked out to only twist up the smallest amount of product to work with and work gradually. Nevertheless, the formula is worth the effort once you get it right.
AVAILABLE FROM: Ulta3, Terry White Chemists.
I was very excited to see a budget brand bring out a range dedicated to brows. And this 2-in-1 pencil/brow gel combo caught my attention in no time. The pencil is an angled nib, the formula is a little stiffer than others I’ve tried but warms up easily. And it does a great job of quickly filling in the front half of the brow, as well as allowing me to clear up the tail of the brow. On the other end is a no-fuss brow gel – making this awesome for travelling as it’s all in one. What really impressed me was that the shade of this Blonde pencil. Often with budget brow products, they’re warmer and look a little strange but this shade is awesome. For such a low price, these are definitely worth checking out if you’re wanting to explore the world of angled brow pencils.
For a while there I was hopelessly devoted to my Precisely, My Brow pencil – using it daily but inevitably, it ran out, so I picked up the Goof Proof again. And it turned out to be a bit of a blessing in disguise. I think for a while there, my brows were a bit of a mess. They definitely needed a bit of upkeep, so I needed the smaller nib à la ABH Brow Wiz or Benefit’s Precisely, My Brow to help me create shape. But now I’ve got the shape of my brows a little more under control, the Goof Proof is incredible. The thicker, angled nib fills in sparse patches in no time at all but can also be used a little more precisely to sort out the tail of the brow. The Benefit brow range really is as good as everyone says it is.
I like to think I’ve sort of gotten the idea of brow pencils now but brow powders are still a bit of a mystery to me. Nevertheless, I’d heard great things about the ABH Brow Powder so grabbed one while they were on sale. Paired with an angled brush, I’ve been loving this duo on natural makeup days. It provides a bit of extra somethin’ in my brows without looking too defined or over the top. I use the lighter shade throughout the whole brow and use a teeny bit of the darker shade through the tail. Although I still think I’m a pencil kinda gal on a daily basis, sometimes it’s nice to mix it up.
Whenever I do my makeup, you can feel sure that I’ll be putting a clear brow gel through my brows. But when I’m feeling a little ~extra~ or doing a little more than my basic everyday makeup, this volumising tinted brow gel can make all the difference. I only use the tiniest bit but the fibres create a subtle, textured look. This one’s also great for super minimal makeup, when I can’t be bothered shaping the brows properly. I just brush a little through and they’re instantly looking fuller.
I’m pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to setting my brows in place with clear brow gel, if I’m honest. But there’s no surprises that this new release from Bobbi Brown caught my attention. And I’ve been really enjoying it. The spoolie is a great shape to avoid going overboard with the product and it feels like nothing in the brows. There’s nothing I hate more than brows that feel crunchy or heavy. Brushing a teeny bit of this through my brows after filling them in and they stay in place all day with no worries.
