A New Love: LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette

A New Love: LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette - Review & SwatchesThere’s a new eyeshadow obsession in town. And it comes in the form of a stunning palette that I’d had on my wishlist for years. I picked up the LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette in my latest Shop and Box haul and since the first moment I opened it up, I knew it was love. For me, this is the stuff that dreams are made of – neutrals, bronzes, golds. Not too warm, not too cool. Just right.

The shades are definitely not revolutionary – this is your standard, everyday neutral palette but there’s something about the balance of mattes and shimmers, as well as the addition of a couple of very special gold shades that’s meant that I’ve been reaching for this palette for everything from a minimal makeup look to a more dramatic look for a night out.

Between the four mattes in the palette, I can build the foundation of any look. Whether it’s a subtle bit of definition through the crease or a smokey outer third of the lid. The shimmers range from a subtle sheen to a straight up metallic finish on the lid, which I love. And they maintain their sheen throughout the day – not losing intensity.

The formula doesn’t disappoint either. The shades can kick up quite a bit of powder in the pan, as they’re so soft and buttery, but I find a quick tap stops the majority of the fallout on the eyes. The shimmery shades do leave behind a bit of excess but it’s nothing that a big fluffy brush can’t wipe away with ease. The mattes are absolutely beautiful – they’re subtle to start with but are easily buildable. That’s how I tend to prefer my mattes to stop me going overboard.

Undiscovered, Unreal, Uncensored, Unspoken, Untamed

It’s a big call but for me, if it came to it, this would probably be the palette that I’d go for if I could only own one. And I think this might even be a hot contender for my perfect travel palette. The packaging is compact and practical and all of the shades are straight up my alley. And, of course, the formula truly delivers. If you haven’t investigated the LORAC brand, let me suggest that you start right here.

  • That is one gorgeous palette! Looking at the shades initially, I thought some of them (notably Unbelievable, Unbridled, Unreal & Untamed) looked too red or pink, but swatch-wise they appear less scary. Such a shame Lorac aren’t readily available here, but not surprising since we get gipped A LOT when it comes to beauty. *sigh*

    • Yeah I definitely agree – a couple of the mattes do look quite warm initially but when swatch they’re not as scary! Lorac is available through Amazon for Australians but it’s still so frustrating that we can’t swatch and play with everything!
