Everyone should know by now that when it comes to nudes, I like things on the pinky, mauvey side of the spectrum. Same, same but different. And although my collection seems to be bursting at the seams, there’s a couple of budget loves that always rise to the top of the pile. They’re tried and tested formulas and shades that always look flattering on me, no matter what makeup I’m wearing.
My all-time favourite budget lipsticks hold that title for many reasons. It’s mostly the dreamy, creamy formula that wears beautifully and hydrates my lips. But it can also be brought down to the fact that the range has some stunning shades in it that are right up my alley. It’s A Keeper & Naughty Nude have been in my collection for ages and I always reach for them when I’m in a rush or don’t know what to wear. It’s A Keeper has a little more mauve in it, compared to Naughty Nude but they both get a serious workout.
Being a long time Burt’s Bees lip balm devotee, I had high hopes for their lipstick range. And luckily, they tick all the boxes for me. They’re lightweight and comfortable, quite reminiscent of their lip balms but with a great amount of pigment. They provide a healthy-looking sheen, too, which I love. There’s plenty of shades in the range that I love but Lily Lake is definitely most worn.
The Australis range is full of awesome products if you know where to look. And these no-fuss lipsticks are definitely a hit with me. This is one of your more standard lipstick formulas – less creamy than my other favourites. I’ve had other shades in the past but Samba is the one that’s stood the test of time. It’s a little warmer and nuder but it works with just about any makeup look.
A long time love that I seem to of forgotten about lately, but every time I reach for it again I can’t understand why. I was never expecting much from the Big W exclusive brand but this lipstick has definitely earned it’s spot in my favourites. As the formula name suggests, these ones are quite shiny on the lips. It’s a little thicker and creamier than I normally go for but somehow, this one just works. Diva is the pinkest of the bunch but still has a mauve undertone that I absolutely love.
Swatched: Rimmel It’s A Keeper, Rimmel Naughty Nude, Burt’s Bees Lily Lake, Australis Samba, Boe Professional Diva.
Well, clearly I have a type. None of these will come as any surprise to longtime readers but I couldn’t resist writing up yet another post declaring my love to these nude-y, mauve-y, pink-y lip colours.
