The Best Of The Lightweight, Fuss-Free Primers

The Best Of The Lightweight, Fuss-Free Primers - Savvy Smooth Finish Primer, Stila One Step Correct, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, Cinch Face CheatI’ve never been much of a primer user. Not because I don’t love the effects (because I totally do) but simply because some mornings, I simply forget. I go straight in with foundation before realising I’ve missed a step. But quite often, my skin thanks me when I do bother to take the extra time. I’m all about fuss-free beauty products and these options make it easy to remember the primer step and make it very worthwhile.

As lovely as the pore-minimising, silicone primers can be, sometimes they’re a lot of work to apply and can leave the skin feeling weighed down. Today, I’m talking your glorified moisturiser kind of primers. Something super easy that adds moisture and a little somethin’ somethin’ to your skin to make sure your foundation looks incredible all day long.

Your moisturiser

Now, this is a bit of a broader recommendation but some mornings, it’s as simple as making sure I use a good helping of lightweight moisturiser before going in with my makeup routine. If you don’t feel like lashing out on something fancy or adding another step to your routine, this will definitely help to make your foundation go on better and last longer. After all, good makeup starts with good skincare. Making sure your skin is nice and hydrated before going in with additional products can make a world of difference. Give it a couple of minutes to sink in first and you’re good to go.

Savvy Smooth Finish Primer

I picked this one up in the Priceline sales not really knowing what to expect. But this has quickly become a favourite budget option. It’s lightly hydrating and leaves the skin looking primed and ready for foundation. It’s a no-frills approach to priming the skin, it doesn’t do much to refine pores or add any additional luminosity but it does make my foundation a little easier to apply and it also wears better throughout the day.

Stila One Step Correct

This one is another long-time favourite. As you can see, there’s not much left in my second tube. The One Step Correct stands out from the rest here because not only is it hydrating and great for prepping the skin, it also does a great job of subtly evening out any redness in the skin – something that I’m often very thankful for in the morning. The formula is so easy to work with and doesn’t look noticeable at all on the skin but is a great starting point for anyone that struggles with redness on the skin.

Smashbox Primer Water*

Another spray primer and a long-time favourite of mine. In fact, this is my second bottle of the stuff. Although I haven’t been reaching for it a lot lately (it was hidden up the back of my drawers for a while), it’s hard to fault this primer that literally feels like a refreshing spritz of water when applied. It sinks in quickly and leaves the skin happy and hydrated. It’s a pricey option, sure, but well worth checking out if you’re really wanting a quick and easy primer that gets the job done.

Cinch Face Cheat*

Primer sprays are becoming all the rage lately and I totally get why. It’s a quick and easy way to prep the skin without having to get your hands dirty. Cinch’s Face Cheat has been a pleasant surprise for me. A quick shake of the bottle, two spritzes to cover the face and straight away, my skin is looking hydrated and glowy. It’s a great all-in-one option if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add a little more luminosity to your base. I also find that my foundation always looks beautiful throughout the day when I’ve started my routine off with this one.
