A Look At The Newly Launched Platinum Brush Range

Platinum Makeup Brushes - available exclusively at Woolworths - Base Blending Brush, Powder Blush, Blush Brush, Essential Collection, Eye Shadow Brush, Contour Eye Brush, Flawless & Precision Sponge Pack - Review

My makeup brush collection is getting a little out of control – how many foundation buffing brushes does one person really need? But somehow, it just keeps growing. There’s always something new and exciting to try out. The Platinum Beauty Brush Range release definitely fits into this category. Launching exclusively at Woolworths, and all for incredible prices? Yes please. I touched on them quickly in a previous post but after further testing, I knew I had to go into a little more detail about the range.

This whole range of precision cut, synthetic brushes feel so soft and luxurious, much higher quality than I was expecting. The handles feel incredibly luxe too – nicely weighted and the sleek gunmetal design is right up my alley. They’re a little shorter than your standard brushes but I’ve actually liked that – finding them a little easier to control. It also makes them great for travelling with.

Let’s have a look at what’s on offer in the range…

Platinum Makeup Brushes - available exclusively at Woolworths - Base Blending Brush, Powder Blush, Blush Brush, Essential Collection, Eye Shadow Brush, Contour Eye Brush, Flawless & Precision Sponge Pack - Review

Base Blending Brush* / $14.99

Straight away I was reminded of the RT Expert Face Brush with slightly longer bristles, when I saw this one. The small, tapered brush is quite dense so lends itself well to blending in foundations with ease. The smaller shape means you have a lot of control and can really focus it on areas around the nose or under the eyes.

Powder Brush* / $19.99

The powder brush in the collection is huge. I’ve been absolutely loving it to apply powder all over the face – it’s so big and fluffy that it does an awesome job in no time at all. It’s also incredibly soft and feels so luxuirous. It’s a win for me.

Blush Brush* / $18.99

This big ol’ fluffy brush is a very similar shape to my all-time favourite – the Mecca Cosmetica Blush Brush. Straight away I fell in love. It’s quite large for a blush brush but I find it does a great job of delivering a really natural diffusion of colour to the cheeks – subtle, natural and never results in clown cheeks.

Essential Collection* / $29.99

This set of three comes with a Buffing Brush, Small Powder Brush & Contour Brush. It certainly lives up to it’s essentials name, in my eyes. The Buffing Brush is slighly larger and less dense than the Sigma F80 but does a really great job of buffing in foundation to the skin. The Small Powder Brush has become a new favourite for setting my undereyes – the size is perfect to precisely apply loose powder in the area before going in with a large brush to set my whole face. The angled Contour Brush is a great shape for defining the cheekbones while also blending out any product so it looks nice and natural.

Eye Shadow Brush* / $9.99

These flat, thin brushes are mostly designed to place colour onto the lid. This one’s a great size, covering most of the lid at once but it’s probably not as dense as it could be – leading to a little bit of fallout if I’m not careful to tap my brush off beforehand.

Contour Eye Brush* / $9.99

Straight away I could tell this one was going to be a winner because it looked very reminiscent of my all-time favourite Sigma E40. It performs just as well when blending shadows into the crease seamlessly. I believe that everyone could benefit from having a brush like this in their collection so I’m really happy I found an alternative for just $10.

Flawless & Precision Sponge Pack* / $9.99

I was excited to see they launched sponges as well as brushes and I’ve been really impressed. The pink one in the pack is your standard shape but has quickly surpassed by other favourites. The purple sponge has one flattened side which is also incredibly helpful. This pack of two for $10 is seriously good value. They do bleed colour a little on the first wash, however, so it could be worth washing them properly before use.

I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when these arrived in the mail but it’s fair to say that I’ve been blown away with this launch. Across the board, they’re soft and get the job done well but what’s the most incredible part is definitely the price point and convenience. It’s awesome to see the makeup aisle at Woolworths get better and better. If you’re after new makeup brushes, look no further.
