My Simple But Effective Morning Skincare Routine

My Simple But Effective Morning Skincare Routine - Garnier Cleansing Milk, Clarisonic Mia 2, Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant, La Roche Posay Serozinc, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, Lush Vanishing Cream - Review

In the evening, I’m all about a multi-step skincare routine. The process of washing my face and applying everything step-by-step is strangely calming so I don’t mind that it takes a couple of minutes to do. In the mornings, however, it’s all about getting my skin in tip-top shape in zero time. I’ve whittled it down to the bare essentials, give or take a few steps depending on how much time I have. My goal with morning skincare is to leaving my skin feeling fresh, clean and ready for makeup. Here’s a look at my simple but effective morning routine.

Garnier Gentle Cleansing Milk & Clarisonic Mia 2*

I’m a bit wishy-washy with cleansers I use in the morning – normally it’s just whatever’s in my shower. Right now, it’s the Garnier Gentle Cleansing Milk – an oldie but a goodie. I’ve repurchased this countless times because it’s so gentle but leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I pair this with my Clarisonic, this has been a mainstay in my collection for ages now and it just can’t be beaten. A quick one minute cleanse in the shower and my skin feels so happy with me. I was also using the Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel* until I ran out recently, which I loved as well! It’s slightly foamy so can leave your skin feeling a little tight if you’re on the dry side, but I really enjoyed it.

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant*

This is a new step and one I probably only add in once a week but it really makes a difference. I’ve loved the brand’s Daily Microfoliant for a while now so I was very excited to see their new improvement to the formula. This powder exfoliator combines with water to create a thick charcoal-y paste. It exfoliates and resurfaces the skin and the result is always brighter, smoother, happier skin. I’m just a little bit obsessed. It says daily in the title but I’d say this would be too intense for me to use daily so I keep it for a couple of mornings a week, normally the ones where I have more time on my hands.

La Roche Posay Serozinc

Of course, my must-have mist makes an appearance in my morning routine as well as in the evening. It’s so quick and easy but always gives some much-needed hydration to my complexion. It also does it’s part to balance out my skin and prevent spots from appearing. A super refreshing spritz before moving onto the next steps.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+

Another morning and night essential step. I don’t think I need to go on again about how much I love this product. It moisturises, improves texture, prevents spots, evens skin tone and does a great job of prepping the skin for makeup. It’s fair to say this one will always have a spot in my line-up.

Lush Vanishing Cream*

For a while there, my routine stopped with the Effaclar Duo, providing me with enough moisture for the morning. But I’ve since added in this lavender-scented, lightweight moisturiser from Lush and I’ve definitely noticed a difference. Designed for combination skin, I was very interested to see how this performs. It does well at balancing out my skin and providing a great base for makeup – just what I’m looking for in a morning moisturiser.

The final step, of course, is SPF, at the moment I’m using the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen, but again, it’s pretty much just whatever I have on hand. Although there’s a couple of steps involved, this routine can be done in-between pulling on a pair of jeans and eating a piece of toast – perfect for someone like me who’s always running late.

Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System is in my wishlist from very long,.. But its too difficult to get it in my country and high shipping and custom charges is not a good option to buy from US/UK

I’ve been longing for a Clarisonic for the longest time, but never been able to justify the price! My pores just never seem to be clean, not matter how often I cleanse my skin! Xx

    • Ah I totally get that – they’re pricey but I reckon it sounds like you’d really benefit from adding it to your routine! If it helps, Adore Beauty has Afterpay so you don’t have to pay it all at once? 🙂
