Is there anything better than 40% off cosmetics? I can hardly contain my excitement every time one of Priceline’s epic sales come around but this time, I’ll admit I didn’t do a great job of planning my purchases. Pair that with the fact that the night before, about $900 worth of my makeup was ruined due to my room flooding, and you can understand that I was feeling a little spendy.
The sale is always an awesome time for me to stock up on new things to try and report back on so it’s always my first priority come Wednesday morning. There haven’t been many hauls on TBC this year because I’ve been in severe savings mode for an overseas trip later this year but I can never resist. I’ve also made it a habit to hit up two of my local Priceline stores to see what they have and again, it’s paid off. Anyway, on with the fun part of the post – the haul.
My primer collection is well and truly overflowing, but I couldn’t resist picking up another thing to try from this very underrated brand. I swatched this simple, lightweight primer on the back of my hand and thought it could be an awesome budget option to try. It feels nice and hydrating with a hint of smoothing to it.
I’m not sure what compelled me to pick up yet another pressed powder but here we are. I’ve heard plenty of things about this powder (mostly from Kathleen Lights, I think) and saw that there was a shade that was probably light enough to match me so threw it in my basket.
Models Prefer Artist Collection Highlight & Contour Pencils
I hadn’t heard a thing about these products but at the second Priceline store there was a little stand with a bunch of pencils designed for different things. I spotted this Highlighting & Contouring set and couldn’t resist.
The NYX stand was, of course, getting swarmed by people but I’ve heard rave review after rave review of this setting spray so thought I’d give it a go myself. The idea of a setting spray that still leaves you looking glowy sounds pretty awesome to me.
My main casualties when my room got flooded was my blush collection. Some of my favourites from Becca, NARS and Tarte got totally destroyed but also, some of my favourites from Essence so I’ve made sure to repurchase them while they’re cheap. I love this berry-toned flush of colour.
Essence Satin Touch Blush in Satin Love
Another repurchase after the flooding debacle. This neutral toned blush is one of my favourites from the brand. And that pan design is just too beautiful. I actually bought this one from Target as it was sold out at both of the Priceline’s I visited, but I thought it was still worth including.
My beloved Santa Rose blush from Rimmel also got destroyed so I grabbed this Pink Rose shade which looks pretty much identical. The packaging is nice and compact and this shade is one of my favourite neutral, every-day colours.
I swatched this on a whim even though it didn’t really look like my kind of thing in the pan and I was very pleasantly surprised. Mixed together, the colours create a beautiful light pink gleamy shade – super beautiful, I’m glad I saw this one!
I was also surprised to see a couple of new eyeshadow palettes in the Models Prefer line up. After my success with the Nude and Nude Rose palettes, this Ash Nude one looked too good to pass up. The shades in this one all look so perfect for me so I can’t wait to try it! There’s also a Matte Nude one that looks super dreamy but I restrained myself.
I love the Essence eyeshadow formula and this beautiful taupe-brown caught my eye. This definitely wasn’t a necessary purchase but again, the pretty design on the pan sucked me in.
A repurchase of my favourite cheap-y brow gel. It feels really comfortable, never flaky, when applied and keeps my brows in place all day long. And it only cost me $2.99!
Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara
This was the one item I had on my list to grab during the sale. I’d heard that this is similar to Too Faced’s Better Than Sex so I wanted to compare the pair. The brush certainly looks similar so I have high hopes!
How come no-one informed me that they expanded the shade line-up of my favourite Rimmel lipsticks in Australia? I got very excited and swatch-happy when I realised that there were some more nudes in the line up. Mauve-ment immediately took my fancy so it was a no-brainer to add to my existing collection.
Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in Stripped Down
I haven’t heard much about the new releases from Maybelline but I was excited to check them out in store. Of course, the latest lip addition – the Color Jolt Lip Paints looked too pretty to pass up. Again, I went for the wearable nude, so I’m looking forward to trying out this formula!
I love this fluffy, long-bristled foundation brush for applying lightweight bases like my NARS Tinted Moisturiser. So I thought why not grab another one? That’s the real sign of dedication to a foundation brush, I reckon.
I spotted this near the register as I was going to pay and thought I should give it a go. I’m so lazy when it comes to washing my brushes so I thought that having this nearby could be handy!
