I’ll be the first to admit that I own far too many cosmetics brushes. Every day it’s a bit of a mix and match situation for me, trying new things and new techniques, along with the new products I constantly have on trial. But there are a couple of steps in the routine that always require my favourite brushes – they’re the ones that, in my eyes, just can’t be beaten. Here are four brushes I use every single day.
First up, my essential brush for setting under my eyes. No matter what foundation or concealer or powder I’m using, this is always my pick to ensure my under eye area looks great and lasts all day long. I find the tapered shape of the brush is a perfect fit for the action of swooping powder around the under eye area – it’s soft and picks up just the right amount of product. I also use this one most days to apply powder to the rest of my face too. It’s a great size to get the job quickly but effectively.
A recent addition, that I mentioned in my last post, but since it arrived a little before Christmas, I haven’t reached for anything else to apply my bronzer with. I’m a fan of subtle definition, nothing too structured, so this is perfect for me. It’s huge and fluffy and oh so soft and it does an incredible job of seamlessly applying bronzer to add a little more definition to my face. No patchiness on the temples, no harsh lines or heavy application. The IT Cosmetics brush line is, it would seem, as good as everyone says.
When I picked this brush up on a whim years ago, I definitely wasn’t expecting it to become such an essential for me. It’s now the only thing I use to apply a subtle flush of colour to my cheeks. The bristles are incredibly soft and the shape is slightly tapered so it works perfectly to pick up just the right amount of product and blend it out. When I first purchased it and after it’s first couple of washes, it did shed a little bit but nowadays I have zero problems with it and my love is still going strong.
This is another one that I’ve been raving about for ages now but it really is that good. It’s always the first and last step in any eyeshadow look I do. Big, fluffy brushes like this are perfect for subtly distributing colour all over the lid, focusing on the crease, so I always reach for this and a matte neutral to stick into my crease, no matter what kind of look I’m doing. This is a worthy addition to anyone’s brush collection ranging from beginners to MUAs.
