It feels like forever since I was last picking out my monthly favourites, I felt like my monthly posts were getting a little same-same last year so I decided I’d throw them together every two months instead. I did, however, forget how fun it was to look back on the bits and pieces that I’ve been loving.
Mixing up my makeup organisation partly through January meant that I was finding new bits at the back of my drawers that I’d completely forgotten about. There was also a bit of an influx of new PR sent through for the new year and I’ve been having so much fun discovering lots of new and exciting bits. Rediscoveries and new additions – let’s get into the first favourites of 2017.
One of my very first base loves. I’ve fallen back into my routine of reaching for this one nearly every day. It’s been particularly useful on weekends when I tend to leave 10 minutes to do my makeup before leaving for work. Eventually, I’ll write up a full post about it because I’ve been talking about it for years but in short – just enough coverage, just enough glow and it stays put all day long.
No surprises that I instantly fell in love with this once it arrived. I find that I only need to apply a little bit under each eye to achieve incredible coverage and awesome longevity. It’s no wonder that I’ve been struggling to remind myself to reach for anything else. I did a full write-up here if you’re after more info.
I have been loving a bit of glow for the last couple of months, what better time than in this warm weather we’ve been having in Australia? And this one has been a solid favourite. Not just because the product looks beautiful in the pan but because the slightly pinky glow (reminiscent of my other fave, ABH Riviera) has just been so flattering on my skin tone. The formula is amazing too.
I wasn’t expecting to love this one as much as I do, to be honest. Since it arrived, I’ve been reaching for it a bunch. I find it really versatile and just a little bit outside of my comfort zone which is always refreshing. My favourite shades in the palette are Luscious, Cobbler and Caramelised, of course, but I’ve been gravitating towards some of the very peachy ones on days when I felt like being a little more out of the box.
A newly released lip launch from Rimmel always gets my attention but ooh, I have been loving this one all month long. So much so that I had to dig through my handbag to find it when taking these pics – it’s been on high rotation ever since it arrived. High Flyer is a perfect warm nude. I could tell it was going to be a favourite straight away and it has certainly delivered.
For so long, the only brush I would use for bronzer was the Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Brush but this one came into my life in December and changed everything. It’s big and fluffy and it’s been perfect for subtly distributing bronzer to the cheekbones and the forehead. I’ve heard so many raves in the past about IT Cosmetics brushes and now I totally get it.
We all know that an acid toner is a non-negotiable in my night time skincare routine and we also know that I’ve tried probably close to a million different products. But I think I might’ve found the one. This does such an awesome job of clearing up my skin, keeping breakouts calm and improving the overall texture while never feeling too aggressive. In short, Glow Tonic is most definitely worthy of the hype.
I like to cycle through my nail polish collection so it’s not often that I wear the same nail polish twice in quick succession but I’ve found this beautiful bright orange on my nails on three separate occasions over the last couple of months. It’s bright but not too over the top and it’s such a Summer-appropriate shade. I forgot how much I loved the Ulta3 formula too, long-lasting and only required two coats for a perfect opaque finish.
