One Very Exciting Makeup Geek Haul

Makeup Geek Haul - Eyeshadows in Bandwagon, Brownie Points, Bake Sale, Pocket Change & Lucky Penny, Foiled Eyeshadow in Legend, Blush in Puppy Love, Duochrome Highlighter in Lit, Highlighter in Luster, Iconic Lipstick in Shy, Plush Lip Cream in Old Soul, Plush Lip Matte in Marriage Material - First Impressions & Swatches

Oh man, I get excited for a bit of a makeup haul. Especially when it’s Makeup Geek. They’ve been bringing out so many incredible new products lately so my wishlist was getting a little out of hand – it was time for a big ol’ order. After adding just about everything to my cart, I managed to get it down to the bits that I just couldn’t miss out on. Everything arrived the other day (after a strange shipping route through Tokyo) and I got very swatch happy. I couldn’t wait to take some pics but I can’t wait to report back soon on all of the new formulas.

Eyeshadows in Bandwagon, Brownie Points, Bake Sale, Pocket Change, Lucky Penny, Legend

Obviously, the main event was bolstering my already gigantic selection of MUG shadows. I picked up a new Medium Z Palette, too, so I could rearrange everything which was exciting in itself for an organisation lover such as myself. The shades I picked up were from the new Fall collection and, of course, beautiful neutral browns.

The matte formulas of the first three, Bandwagon, Brownie Points and Bake Sale, blew me away – super buttery and blended well onto the lid as well. I can tell Bandwagon is going to become an essential for me. Pocket Change & Lucky Penny are both absolutely stunning too – richly pigmented and just as metallic on the lid as they look in the swatch. Legend was my new Foiled Eyeshadow addition – a rich, intense golden bronze. Can’t wait to get an excuse to bring this one out.

Blush in Puppy Love

The reformulated blushes looked absolutely beautiful, there were a few on my wishlist, but I couldn’t go past Puppy Love. From swatches online, it looked like it’d be similar to my go-to neutral shades, such as Tarte Exposed, so I already knew it’d become a favourite. It’s a stunning rosy nude. It applied really well to the cheeks, too – subtle but easily blendable.

Highlighters in Lit & Luster

Again, another new release from Makeup Geek that I was SO excited to try. I picked up Lit, a Duochrome peachy-pink-champagne shade, and Luster, what they describe as a rosy tan. When I saw swatches, it reminded me of ABH’s Riviera, so I knew I had to have it. They look beautiful in the pan, but apply much lighter when swatched or applied to the cheeks. I’ve only had a quick play with Luster so far but I am already impressed.

Iconic Lipstick in Shy, Plush Lip Creme in Old Soul & Plush Lip Matte in Marriage Material

I also wanted to buy one of each of the new lipstick formulas to try them all out but unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with the shade ranges – lots of bolds and darker colours – but I managed to find a shade that I liked in each one. Shy is a lovely mauve-y pink, Old Soul is a slightly deeper, more purple shade and Marriage Material is an even darker rose. The swatches I saw online were sort of all over the place so I wasn’t sure what to expect when they arrived but they’re all beautiful shades.

The Iconic Lipstick formula sounds like it comes in two varieties – cream & matte. Shy is one of the cream formulas – easy to apply and comfortable on the lips while still being quite long-wearing, I found. I haven’t tried the other two formulas on the lips but from first impressions, they both seem lovely. The names of the formulas both seem accurate, with the Plush Matte appearing quite mousse-y rather than actually drying down to a full matte.

Awesome Haul,.. especially the highlighters and lipsticks,..

  • LOVE the new shadows Ash! Funnily enough, I had all of those except Lucky Penny on my wishlist…and now I’ve added that one to the list too! You’re right about the lipstick shades being disappointing – the only one I’d consider purchasing would be Shy from the Iconic Lipstick range. Everything else is either too dark or something I wouldn’t wear.

    • Yeah, I was really disappointed with the lack of beautiful nude shades – hopefully Marlena’s reading and getting into the lab to create some more shades!

  • Bernadette

Such a wonderful haul Ash. Makeup geek is such a brilliant brand I can’t even begin to explain my love for it. I have all of those eye shadows, in just 3 orders I got over 60 shades. That is how obsessed I am. I adore the shade legend. I definitely need to get their highlighters and lip products – as well as blushes and contour shades hahah. I recently made a big color pop order for their pressed shadows, I am excited to see how they compare to the makeup geek shades.

      • Bernadette

Yes, I was prioritizing makeup geek orders over everything else. I still have many shades I want to get hahaha. Eye shadow wise I definitely want to make a large morphe palette order as well as violet voss.

  • Bella

I bought the lipstick in shy and I love it.

The eyeshadows and highlighters are so so lovely. I wish I lived in America, I would just use colourpop and makeup geek and be happy forever!

  • I love reading your MUG posts!! Beautiful shades you picked up! I didn’t know they made lip products as well! Luster would look so pretty on the eyes as well!

    • Thanks so much! The lip products only launched recently so that’s fair enough that you didn’t know about them 🙂 and you’re right about Luster on the eyes – I’ll have to give it a go!

  • Totally understand that – the whole order process with Colourpop has been a mess in the past!

  • I am so far behind on Makeup Geek. I know one day I will finally bite the bullet and make a huge eyeshadow order but I’m always so hesitant with online brands! But you’ve made some lovely purchases it seems!
