The beauty industry can be overwhelming to even the most switched-on of beauty addicts. I love keeping up with new releases but there is still so much happening every day that it’s easy to get lost in it all. But as always, one of my beauty resolutions for 2017 is to try new things – new formulas, new techniques and new brands. There’s still so much for me to discover in the industry, which is what always excites me. Some brands I want to explore more include Glossier, Morphe & Cover FX but if you have any other recommendations of brands you haven’t seen me mention, make sure to let me know.
But for today’s post, though, I thought I’d pass on a couple of my recommendations for you. The brands I think you should be getting familiar with in 2017.
First up, the cult favourite for any eyeshadow lover. If you haven’t gone onto Makeup Geek’s website and added every single beautiful shade to your cart, you’re not exploring their website right. There’s something awesome about being able to make up a palette of your perfect shades and the formula of Makeup Geek doesn’t disappoint. They’ve released a bunch of new products in the last year so I’ve got an order on its way to me now, I couldn’t resist adding even more shades to my already substantial collection.
I’m sure everyone’s sick of hearing me blather on about why you need to try Smashbox but here we are again. Even though I mentioned them earlier this week, I thought it was worth saying again. For a brand that’s stocked at Mecca or Sephora, I think they get overlooked far too often. Their releases are always on trend and their shade ranges always impress. There’s so many hidden gems in their range, some even I haven’t discovered yet, so I think I’ll be adding a couple more of their products to my 2017 wishlist, too.
In the budget market, any Australian beauty lover needs to take the time to get to know Models Prefer. Priceline’s own exclusive brand continues to deliver awesome products for an awesome price point. I’ve raved about their makeup brushes time and time again, because they’re such high quality. But their makeup collection is just as impressive. They continue to bring out products that reflect the trends in the higher end makeup world, which are always much appreciated by those of us who love a good makeup dupe.

If your 2017 resolution is to get your skin in tip-top shape, trying some of my favourite French skincare brands could seriously help out. I’m continually blown away by their no fuss approach to effective skincare. La Roche Posay & Avene are two of my favourite French pharmacy options. Both brands have ranges specifically targeted to major skin concerns so there’s something for anyone and everyone. I’m particularly a fan of the LRP Effaclar range and Avene Cleanance range.
To try from La Roche Posay: Effaclar Duo+ & Serozinc.
To try from Avene: Triacneal Expert* & Tolérance Extreme Cleanser*.
