It’s been about a month since my Jouer goodies arrived from Cult Beauty and needless to say, they’ve all been getting a workout. I’d been meaning to try out a couple of bits from the brand for ages and after trying everything out, I’m more than a little impressed. I thought it was time to report back, letting you know how I was getting along with everything.
I had high hopes for these beauties after seeing so many photos of incredibly pigmented, metallic swatches. The formula is so incredibly soft and creamy – they hardly even feel like a powder – which does mean it kicks up a bit of powder in the pan. But the glow that these beauties leave behind, when applied with a tapered highlighting brush is seriously stunning. Not as metallic and intense as I find the Becca formula but the formula melts into the skin to look incredibly natural yet glowy. Although the shade range is limited to three shades at the moment, I hope that they introduce more shades so I can grab them.
Citrine is a pale golden shade that looks really flattering on pale skin but I can imagine it could work for anyone. It’s a little lighter when compared to come of my other favourite golden highlighters such as Becca Opal. This is probably why it’s a little more wearable and subtle on my skin.
Rose Quartz is a similar story but a little more subtle on my skintone. Just the right amount of pink without looking overpowering on the skin. ABH Riviera is quite a bit darker but Becca’s Rose Quartz bears a striking resemblance, pulling just a tiny bit more pink than the Jouer option of the same name.
When I try out a new liquid lipstick formula, I’m always hoping for a comfortable, almost weightless feeling on the lips and an awesome staying power. It was pretty much love at first application because it applies beautifully and dries down to a matte finish that never feels drying or uncomfortable.
Not only is the formula incredible but the shade I picked out was too. When I was planning my order, I was truly struggling to pick just one shade to try. The whole range of stunning nudes was tempting me but I decided on Tawny Rose in the hopes that it wouldn’t dry down too dark. This shade is essentially my perfect my lips but better shade. The formula also smells deliciously sweet.
I can’t wait to try out a couple of other shades from the range because so far, this is rising to the top of my favourite liquid lip formulas.
