I’m not sure how my readers feel, but I love the Quick Swatch posts on TBC. There’s nothing better than a little bit of lipstick porn to brighten up my day. So although I’ve already devoted an entire post to some of the beautiful Smashbox Be Legendary Lipsticks*, you can imagine my surprise when a very generous package arrived from Mecca with even more of the range to try out. I thought, as always, that I better get to swatching them ASAP…
As I originally mentioned, I’m a little in love with this formula. The satin finish formula is creamy, comfortable and adds just a hint of gloss on the lips and the matte finish formula is incredibly pigmented, beautifully matte but never drying. A couple of the sheerer shades in the satin formula can gather on dry patches of the lips, or apply a little patchily so it’s worth checking out swatches before purchasing, I’d say.
The shade range is fairly extensive in the US (there’s 120 to be precise) but in Australia, we have access to 36, exclusively at Mecca – the best of the range, with a bunch of brights, bolds, berries and of course, my favourites, nudes. I’ll include the swatches from my last quick swatch post towards the end, too, so you can get an idea of the range of stunners in the lineup.
Nude Beach – a light, peachy nude.
Famous – similar to Nude Beach but a little lighter and less peachy.
Safe Word Matte – a deep tan-nude.
Audition – a neutral rose-mauve, this one’s been on my wishlist for a while…
Panorama Pink – a bright true light pink – a definite Spring shade, for me.
Publicist Matte – a vibrant, intensely pigmented fuchsia berry.
Inspiration – a creamy pink fuchsia.
L.A. Sunset – a glossy, coral red.
Get Fired – a truer red with a hint of that orange-y undertone.
Bing Matte – an incredibly classic cherry red – totally beautiful.
Red Rage – a sheerer blue-toned red.
Made It Matte – a deep brick red.
Unzipped Matte – a matte, blue-toned deep red.
Screen Queen Matte – a deep wine vampy berry.
Witchy – deep purple-burgundy – a little sheerer and one of the patchier shades.
Plum Role Matte – a rich, dark plum-purple.
Punked Matte – a mid-toned grey.
Here are the swatches from the last post, too – for comparison purposes.
Even within the 36 shades available at Mecca, there’s such a huge variety and truly a shade for everyone. My favourites from this line-up include Audition, Panorama Pink, Publicist Matte, Bing Matte & Screen Queen Matte. I’ll continue to talk about how underrated Smashbox products are in Australia – the range is full of incredible formulas so I definitely recommend having a swatch of these next time you’re shopping.
