Hot off the tail of the launch of their incredible liquid lipsticks, Smashbox have hit it out of the park again with a huge shade expansion of their Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick* range. Now with 120 shades to choose from, it’s getting a little overwhelming to consider all of your options. I was lucky enough to receive twenty from the brand and was already blown away with the extensive shade selection so I can’t imagine what I’ll be like when I’m faced with all of them when they launch in store.
I wanted to get swatches up as quickly as possible for you all so, as is normally the case with Quick Swatch posts, I haven’t fully wear tested the formula but my previous experiences with the Be Legendary lipstick formula means I’m confident in saying that this formula is really great – comfortable, pigmented, long-wearing and with options for matte and glossy lipstick lovers. Some of the lighter, creamier shades tend to gather strangely on the lips, I’ve found but I often experience that if I don’t prep my lips right.
Work It – a light brown-nude, it washes me out a little but I know some people have been loving shades like this lately.
Tickle Me Matte – an apricot-peach nude, another one that looks a little too light for me.
Latte Matte – a deeper brown-peach.
Later – a sheerer peachy nude – looks like a ‘my lips but better’ colour with a hint of peach.
Dirty Matte – a deep warm brown.
Can’t Type – a light, blue-toned bubblegum pink – another shade that washes me out a little.
Bombastic – a slightly deeper bubblegum pink, surprisingly wearable if you like bright pinks such as this.
Fuchsia Flash – bright, beautiful fuchsia. My favourite of the three bright pinks.
Fan Mail – a bubblegum pink with a bit more of a purple undertone.
Tabloid – light, sheer purple. I can’t say I’m normally into purples but this one looks quite nice when applied over my natural lip colour.
Pinch Me Matte – a rich light terracotta-orange.
Headliner – a bright creamy coral with a hint of pink to it.
Mandarin – a red with strong orange undertones, as the name would suggest – perfect for summer.
High – a warm light brown.
Tarot Card Matte – a matte, deep mauve.
Stylist Matte – a dark pink mauve.
My Digits – my immediate favourite – a dark purple-y mauve.
Jam On Matte – a deep beetroot purple, I fell in love the second I swatched this one.
Coffee Run – a sheer dark brown.
Deep – dark navy with a hint of glitter to it, SO COOL.
It’s not as if I was really needing more lipsticks. But these affordable and high quality beauties are more than welcome to join my collection. I continue to be impressed by Smashbox and confused by why more people don’t try things out from the brand! My initial favourites include Fuchsia Flash, Tarot Card Matte, Stylist Matte, My Digits & Jam On Matte. But the range of corals & oranges are going to be perfect for those who love warm-tones or summery shades. From the looks of the full collection, there will well and truly be a colour for everyone.
What’s your favourite shade from this lineup?
