Originally, this post was going to be talking about the hits and misses from July’s NYC haul but as I thought it over, I realised there weren’t really any let downs – every product that I’ve given a proper road test has exceeded expectations but there were three shining stars that needed their own little fanfare.
I had high hopes for this beauty after swatching it in store and from the very first application, I’ve been struggling to reach for anything else. It’s a fairly subtle sheen when compared to your Becca or ABH heavyweights but it looks effortlessly natural on the skin – golden but still flattering on my pale skin. If you’ve been looking for something for natural makeup days, look no further.
This was the real breakthrough of the haul – a new favourite bronzer. This has quickly jumped up the ranks to be my perfect, no-fuss, not too orange bronzer. It’s very subtle so requires a little bit of building up if I want lots of definition but that’s exactly how I like it. This one’s launching in stores in Australia at the moment so make sure to go and grab it if you’re on the pale side or you just want a subtle bronzer to define the face.
And finally, the surprise of the bunch – I wasn’t expecting to love this one quite as much as I do. The colour is stunning, a little browner than I expected when it dries down but I totally love it with a slightly bronzy eye look. The real star is the formula, the doe-foot makes for easy and clean application (even for a noob like me) and most importantly it’s one of the most comfortable matte liquid lip formulas that I’ve tried. Non-drying and it never picks up dry skin that I often experience during the winter.
It’s been refreshing to have a bunch of new stuff to play with in my collection over the last month or so – there were plenty of highlights in my haul but these three definitely take the cake.
