Lately, big makeup hauls on TBC have been few and far between. This year I’ve really tried to cut back on my spending and taken the chance to really appreciate what I already have in my collection but there’s something about stepping foot in a U.S. Sephora that has my debit card jumping out of my wallet. I had a really lovely time over in NYC and although I didn’t spend as much time trawling all of my local Sephoras as I did last time there was still quite a bit of new makeup packed in my luggage to come home with me.
The majority of the damage occurred, of course, at Sephora. I didn’t realise just how much new stuff there was until I got in store and realised I wanted one of everything.
Somehow I came home with four new concealers/under eye correctors. I do love trying out new formulas to see how they perform on the undereyes so I’m looking forward to reporting back. I repurchased my recent obsession, the Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener in Luminous 1 after scraping around the edges of the bottle I took with me, and also grabbed the Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Corrector in Pink/Brightness and Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Pink – both formulas I’ve tried before in concealers and enjoyed so I have high hopes for them. The last concealer I grabbed was the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer in R20 after hearing great reviews.

I wanted to try out something from The Estée Edit and decided on this The Estée Edit Barest Blush in Purr Pink – the packaging is pretty but feels quite cheap, I’ve found, but I’m excited to try the formula. I also grabbed a mini Benefit Dandelion Blush as I’d been meaning to try out this shade and couldn’t pass up an adorable mini. I decided I would finally grab the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl after months of lusting after it and a quick swatch of the new Tarte Amazonian Clay Highlighter in Exposed Highlight was enough to convince me it needed to come home with me. Finally, I got very swatch-happy with the new Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops and ended up picking up Celestial. They apply like liquid metal so I can’t want to play around with the formula.

The only eyeshadow purchase came in the form of the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette – it’s just as beautiful as I was expecting it to be. And for brows I grabbed a repurchase of my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe after running out while I was away and I also picked up my shade in the new Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil.
Compared to last year’s lip product-heavy haul, I kept things fairly contained on the new lip product front. I picked up two new liquid lipsticks, the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Swag & Buxom’s Wildy Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick in Wandress to try out and also spent forever swatching all of the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick shades before settling on TMI, one from the Sheer range. Luckily I was still able to grab my birthday gift for 2016, choosing an adorable little set from Marc Jacobs Beauty with a mini Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer & mini Le Marc Lip Creme in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

I’d heard good things about the Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil so grabbed a sample size to try it out. For hair, I made two purchases – a travel size Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo, after a particularly great experience getting a blow-wave at one of the NYC Drybars and the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Travel Kit, after hearing plenty of great reviews of the range. I also grabbed another BeautyBlender to replace my current one that’s probably seen better days.
I kept things pretty contained at the drugstore, I think – there wasn’t too much that caught my eye that hadn’t reached Australia yet.
My main quest was to get my hands on the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation in 201 Classic Ivory, I went to pretty much every drugstore in Manhattan but I finally found it. I also grabbed the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer and the Wet n Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette in I’ll Have A Cosmo. I couldn’t miss out on picking up some of the new, incredibly soft Wet n Wild brushes so I got the Powder Brush, Blush Brush & Flat Top Brush.

Charlotte Tilbury & Diptyque
I also decided to splurge and finally pick up the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette, a product I’d been wanting since they were first released. The shade is stunning so I can’t wait to get it on my eyelids.
One of the shopping centers I was at was offering a GWP when you spent over a certain amount at the center, of course, there was a Sephora in there so I went up and did some damage. The gift was this beautiful Diptyque Baies Candle, a scent that I’ve actually had on my wishlist forever.

Bath & Body Works
I was super excited to check out a Bath & Body Works store again and I had a great time smelling pretty much everything they had in the store. Although I wanted to bring home a bunch of 3-Wick candles, I settled on a Watermelon Lemonade Mason Jar Candle as it was a little smaller and less heavy. I also grabbed a Cucumber Melon Body Lotion that was on sale because it smells delicious, of course.
While over in the U.S. I also thought to make a Colourpop order, getting free shipping to where I was staying instead of paying for shipping to Australia but I think I’ll be leaving that for another post coming up soon, first impressions could be good too, right?
Now it’s time to try and find room for all these new bits in my already overflowing drawers… Do let me know in the comments if there’s anything you’re particularly interested in a review on but I feel sure I’ll be getting posts up about a bunch of new bits over the next couple of months. Back to savings mode for me…
