I’ve tried a little bit of everything when it comes to Rimmel – foundations, blushes, eyeshadows… but nothing impresses me quite like their lipsticks. Every range that I try I’m consistently in love with – including but not limited to The Only One lipsticks, the Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipsticks and, of course, the original Moisture Renew lipstick range. The new Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipsticks* are extending the range a little further – serving up sheer, glossy, comfortable wear in very cute pink packaging.
The original Moisture Renew formula is super smooth and creamy, providing an intense colour payoff with one swipe. The Sheer & Shine extension is similar but with a more subtle take on colour – sheer when first applied but easily built up to a juicier finish. Juicy is actually the first word that comes to mind when applying these to the lips – the combination of the glossy finish and sheer colour creates something special. Each shade in the range is easily built up to an intense colour pay off.
On the day-to-day, I’ve been applying them straight to the lips, lightly blotting them down with a tissue to improve longevity and then adding a light second application to bring back the glossiness but they also work well when patted in lightly with a finger for a bit of a stain. They feel comfortable and lightweight on the lips – the gloss tends to wear off throughout the day but the colour does a pretty great job of staying put if I’ve blotted it down after applying.
100 Woke Up Like This – a very light peachy nude, actually very similar to my skin tone when swatched on the back of my hand. This is one that tends to look a little stark on me if I build it up too much.
200 Glow-rious Pink – Unsurprisingly my favourite from the range. A light petal pink that is pretty much the perfect colour for Springtime.
300 Pink Rules – A brighter, more magenta pink and another obvious fave. This one actually leaves a bit of a stain behind, I’ve found.
500 Red-y Set Go – A very orange-based red – I tend to reach for reds with more of a blue undertone so this one hasn’t seen much use but if orange-reds are your thing, this is your guy.
600 Spin All Spring – Another light peach, a little brighter and deeper than 100 Woke Up Like This. Another very Spring-appropriate shade.
700 Better & Brighter – An unassuming brown-nude that’s actually turned out to be one of my favourites from the new shades – super flattering on my pale skin but could easily be built up for darker skin tones, too.
This is yet another range from Rimmel to add to my list of favourites – I can definitely see myself reaching for this slightly sheer, slightly glossy take on the Moisture Renew in the warmer months. The shade range is simple but I’m sure there will be one in the range to suit anyone’s tastes.
