Another month, another favourites post – July was tricky because I spent two weeks away, living out of a suitcase, but a few favourites still appeared in the ranks.
My skin’s been looking pretty lacklustre lately, it’s taking it’s time to adjust to the chilly winter weather so anything that adds a bit of extra glow has been very welcome in my routine. A pump of this stuff to start off my makeup leaves the skin looking effortlessly luminous and it also does a great job of prepping the skin for foundation.
I’m planning on reporting back on a bunch of the products I picked up in my NYC haul later in the month but couldn’t wait to rave about this one – it was love at first application with this one and it’s gone straight to the top of my recommendations for any pale skinned beauty lovers. It’s subtle but buildable and the shade never looks orange or out of place on the skin. A new favourite for sure.
I will continue to go on about how much I love this palette forever, let’s be real. It’s a neutral lovers dream – all wrapped into one nifty palette. I used this one almost every day while I was away in the US and my MUG shadows ended up feeling a little unloved. It’s the perfect mix of easy to blend matte shades with a few pops of shimmer that are perfect for all over the lid. No wonder it was on the list when I rounded up the eyeshadow palettes worth investing in.
Although I mentioned in my NY travel makeup bag post that I was taking the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara with me, I ended up throwing this one into the bag too at the last second and I’m very glad that I did. At first, I wasn’t blown away with the formula but as it’s dried out a little more I’ve found that it’s been holding a curl and separating my lashes beautifully. The other main drawing card in the US was that it didn’t smudge even when in the very warm US weather.
From the second I opened up the Look Good Feel Better Makeover Brush Set I knew that this brush and I were going to be best friends. It’s essentially a dupe for my beloved Sigma E40. I’d only had it for a week before I brought it to the US with me and since then it’s been an absolute love affair. It’s a little stiffer than the E40 but I find it super effective at really diffusing colour into the crease.
Normally I just grab whatever shower gel I can find at the supermarket but lately this rose-scented one has been filling my bathroom with a subtle but super calming rose scent. I never really have high expectations for shower gel but I have found lather of this one leaves my skin feeling very moisturised.
My travel fragrance of choice. The handy roller ball was perfect to avoid it spilling everywhere in my bag and the sophisticated peony-based floral is a favourite all year round.
A bunch of my favourite bloggers have been singing the praises of this pastel purple and as soon as I got it on my own nails I became a bit of a convert too. It’s quickly jumped up the ranks of my favourite pastels and honestly, I don’t want to take it off. This one will be on high rotation for a while now, I think.
