We all know I have a bit of a penchant for a mauve-y lip – especially now the winter weather is starting to set in. I’ve got about a trillion option sitting in my lip product drawers but lately I’ve been reaching for a quick and easy combo that’s easy on the wallet but oh so beautiful.
I’ve raved and raved about the Boe Professional Super Shine lipstick in Diva in the past and you know it will continue – the formula is incredibly creamy, gliding onto the lips and feels comfortable on the lips for the whole day, keeping my lips hydrated and slightly glossy. The shine is unsurprisingly more intense when first applied but during the day this wears down to a natural finish, still silky on the lips but with slightly less shine (that’s where the gloss comes in). Diva is a stunning pinky mauve, a shade that would work on any skin tone to liven up the complexion. It’s easily one of my favourite lipstick shades of all time.
The lip gloss in question is the Maybelline Colour Elixir Lip Gloss in Mauve Mystique, again, one of my favourite lip gloss formulas, but this shade is one of the newer ones to be added to my collection. As you can see from the swatches, the shade is pretty much identical to Diva so I like to focus the gloss on the center of the lips to add to the pout and add a three dimensional look to the lips. It’s a simple little trick that I love to take advantage of, it’s particularly effective in photos, too.
L to R: Boe Professional Diva, Maybelline Mauve Mystique, Diva & Mauve Mystique layered.
The combination of the two has been on high rotation over the last couple of weeks and I can see it continuing further into the winter months. My lips have been quite dry due to the weather so I find that this hydrating, glossy combination is a lifesaver at hiding my chapped lips while they recover.
What’s your favourite Winter lip combo?
