Lately I’ve found myself in a bit of a routine, rotating the same bases day in and day out. When you find the formulas that work for you it’s hard to break away from the faves. Especially in the winter months, when my skin goes a little crazy, I’m thankful for having a few foolproof bases in my stash. Here are the four foundations that I just can’t stop reaching for.
I really don’t talk about this BB cream enough but it’s been an on and off favourite for at least five years now. The formula is quite thick, but applying it with a looser fluffy brush leaves my skin looking perfected, with just enough coverage for a daily basis. It does a great job of brightening up my winter complexion and when set down with a powder it lasts all day long.
This is pretty much the one for me – the base I always come back to when I need something quick and effective. It’s glowy, with just the right amount of coverage, more than you’d expect from a tinted moisturiser. It’s also pretty much foolproof to apply when you’re in a hurry with a fluffy brush. I can sense that I’m nearing the end of this tube so I’m preparing my bank account for a repurchase…
At first I wasn’t blown away by this BB Water but I’ve grown to love it, lately. It’s the sheerest of the bunch so I reserve it for very good skin days. I obviously have a type in the winter time because this is another one that brings the glow to my complexion. I make sure to set this one down, especially on the chin, or I find it disappears by late afternoon.
On the opposite side of the scale to the first three, I’ve also been deeply in love with MUFE’s very hyped up foundation. It’s higher up on the coverage scale and is also a little more natural/matte when it comes to the finish but for special events or days when my skin’s playing up this is the one that I’ve been reaching for. For a foundation with a decent dose of coverage this feels so lightweight on the skin.
What have been your go-to bases lately?
