Normally my posts about mascaras come in the form of a ‘Mascaras on Rotation’ write up. I tend to always have way too many mascaras open at a time so it’s always been the easiest way to do it but lately, I’ve been rotating the same three non-stop – when I’m onto something good I tend to stick to it.
My first impressions were a little iffy but since then, my love for this mascara has only grown. When I first opened up the tube the formula was a little wet for me, leading to clumpy, spidery looking lashes but now it’s dried out a bit it provides length, separation, volume and it holds a curl. Without fail, a quick wiggle of this wand through my lashes and I’m ready to go. They’ve even released a waterproof formula so you know that one went straight on my wishlist.
This was another one that I wasn’t completely wowed by when I first started using it. It was good, sure, but I couldn’t understand the hype. Now I get it. Again, all it took was a little while to dry out the formula before I was onto a good thing. If I’ve made sure to remove any excess from the brush before hand, this wand can create separated lashes like no other. It holds a curl as Benefit loves to claim and although I find it’s not the best for creating length, the separation and volume is enough to win me over. If I’m after really dramatic lashes a coat of this followed by some Better Than Sex is all I need.
It was love at first application with this one and my love has not diminished since then. When I’m after a mascara that does a little bit of everything, this is the one I reach for. The brush is a simple, traditional shape but I find it does a better job than a lot of others I’ve tried when it comes to length, volume and curl. It’s not the most dramatic, contrary to it’s name, but I find that for perfect, day time, fluttery lashes, this is my go-to. This sample has done very well but a full size purchase must be on the cards soon.
Although I was somehow convinced that I only loved drugstore mascaras it would seem that the tables have turned – these three higher end formulas have really been working for me lately. I think it’s time to switch up my mascara draw and try a few more on the budget end…
