It’s not very often that a lipstick really blows me away, particularly when they come from the drugstore, but it took one swipe before I knew that I’d be getting along just fine with Rimmel‘s new range, The Only 1 Lipsticks*.
The packaging is edgy but still practical, the rounded shape of the bullet is actually so much easier to work with than I originally anticipated and the smell, although it may be a little sweet for some, is something that doesn’t actually bother me too much. But the formula is where things start getting reeeeeeally good.
One swipe is all you need for bright, intense pigmentation – amongst the best I’ve seen from the drugstore. The finish is glossy and leaves your lips looking healthy and moisturised. I often find lipsticks that start off with a gloss end up feeling dry and tight on the lips. Not the case with these ones, they were off evenly and comfortable and some of the brighter shades leave behind a very impressive stain.
The range is chock full of gorgeous shades, twelve in total, with a few nudes and lots of juicy looking brights. I’m very lucky to of been sent six and have been wearing them so much since they arrived. Every swatch below is just one, simple swipe. You can see for yourself how incredible the pigmentation is.
110 Pink A Punch – A bright, unapologetic warm-toned pink. To me, it looks like Summer in a lipstick.
200 It’s A Keeper – One swatch of this and I knew this shade was going to be my best friend and it definitely hasn’t disappointed. This is pure mauve-y goodness and I’ve been wearing it basically non-stop.
300 Listen Up! – The fuchsia lover in me can’t get enough of this shade. The glossy formula suits the shade so well.
500 Revolution Red – No range is complete without a gorgeous orange-y red. This is the perfect cherry red for my complexion, even though I’m not normally a big wearer of reds.
610 Cheeky Coral – A dark orange-y coral shade which is a lot brighter than Revolution Red. This will be a favourite for orange lip lovers.
710 Easy Does It – Rimmel’s answer to the brown-y nude lip trend and it’s a good one. I’m not normally too keen on the trend myself but I find this one surprisingly flattering!
I can wholeheartedly recommend swatching these in store – I’ve liked Rimmel lip products before but these are a whole new kind of love. (rant over!)
