The Barely There Blushes

The Barely There Blushes - Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed, Bobbi Brown Blush in Nectar, NARS Blush in Douceur, Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink, Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Pink Rose - Review & Swatches

I’ve been trying to streamline my blush collection over the last few months. I found myself reaching for the same few time and time again and there were a lot sitting there feeling unloved. My tastes have changed a little bit lately, too, rather than going for my normal peachy pinks or rose-y coloured shades, I’ve been leaving things looking a little more natural. A couple of glowy, barely there blushes have been rising through the ranks.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed –

Perhaps the most hyped neutral blush out there but each time I use it I understand why just a little bit more. On my skin, it’s a light brownish pink colour that translates to just a tiny bit of warmth when applied to my cheeks. It looks awesome with lots of bronzer and dewy skin.

Bobbi Brown Blush in Nectar –

The brightest pink of the lot and in the heavily applied swatch you can see it’s clearly not as ‘subtle’ as the others but I find if I just touch my brush into the pan before applying it to the cheeks it just adds a touch of colour to my skin, brightening up my complexion and making me look a little more alive.

NARS Blush in Douceur –

I can’t begin to imagine why NARS discontinued this. It’s a very similar colour to Tarte’s Exposed, perhaps a little peachier. I’ll admit the formula isn’t quite as easy to pick up on a brush as the Tarte one but it’s definitely worth the effort. It sort of doubles as a light contour by providing some definition under the cheekbone while livening up the face.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink –

For diffused, glowy, subtly pink cheeks – this is my go to. It’s one of those blushes that almost doubles as a highlight because it leaves my skin looking so healthy and luminous. The pigmentation normally needs a bit of building up if you want anything too noticeable but I tend to keep it sheer and subtle.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Pink Rose –

Similar to the Creme Puff Bush, this Rimmel offering has a touch of glow to it but with a little more of a rosy hue to accompany it. I love this shade in the summertime when I’m going for something simple, it works with every look and adds some life to my complexion with getting in the way of anything else that might be happening on the eyes or lips.
