Time for round two of January’s quick swatch series and today we’re talking eyeshadow palettes. L’Oreal are getting on board with the eyeshadow palette trend with two beautiful additions to their line, the L’Oreal La Palette Nude Eyeshadow Palettes* in 01 Rose and 02 Beige.
The packaging is slim and simple and they come with a double ended brush & sponge combo which I, admittedly, haven’t tried out, but I can see these being awesome for travelling because they’re so compact and manage to fit a lot in. Each palette has ten shades, four mattes and six shimmers.
01 Rose is a selection of beautiful rosy, purple-y shades. It’s a pretty unique lineup, actually, with a grey and a beautiful deep purple thrown in the mix too. I find that the mattes in this palette are a bit of a letdown, they take quite a bit to get them working on the lids and feel quite dry. As you can see from the swatches, the matte deep brown and the grey on the right side of the palette aren’t too impressive when swatched. The shimmery shades feel much creamier and are way easier to work with, I’ve found, with my two favourites being the peachy golden shade and the rich brown to the right of it.
02 Beige was the one that I was obviously a little more excited for. All of those browns and bronzes immediately appealed to me. The matte shades in this palette are far creamier than those in the Rose palette, none of them have been causing any problems except for the third one along in the palette which tends to be a bit chalky. The black shade isn’t quite as pigmented as it could be and the first shade in the palette is pretty unimpressive when swatched so that’s something to take into account. The second shade in the palette didn’t look too impressive in the pan but has ended up becoming one of my favourites from the lineup.
I’m happy to see another drugstore brand adding eyeshadow palettes to their line, particularly ones that have such an awesome shade selection. I’ve really enjoyed using these the last few weeks so can totally recommend checking them out.
Which of these two palettes would you go for?
