I’ll admit I don’t know much about the Buxom brand, I never hear much about them and because they’re so hard to get a hold of in Australia I haven’t tried much from their range but after seeing Tiffany’s post devoted to this very lipstick, I knew it had to be mine.
The Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks are marketed as a lightweight gel consistency with an intense colour payoff. There are both Matte and Satin finishes in the range, with packaging that reflects the formulas. The packaging is well worth a mention because it feels more substantial than a lot of other lipsticks in my collection, slightly larger and with a magnetic closure. They feel hefty and like they’re actually worth your hard earned pennies.
The shade range of these lipsticks is fairly overwhelming, to be honest, so I’m glad I knew which one I was after. The Beauty Look Book has swatched all of the shades if you’re interested in the rest of the range. I went for the shade Rebel Rose (I picked it up in this Sephora haul in October) which, on the Sephora website, is described as a satin rosy pink. On my pale skin, it pulls a lot more nude than it does in other pictures that I’ve seen but it’s still like that perfect mix of nude, pink and mauve that I’ve been reaching for a LOT lately. For me, it’s so easy to throw on and go because it works with any look, looks natural but like I’ve put in a little bit of extra effort.
Another reason why I’ve been reaching for this so much is because the formula is perfect for every day wear. It’s creamy and moisturising and applies beautifully to the lips. When first applied it looks slightly glossy, over the first few hours of wear the sheen gets less obvious but the colour still remains. The subtle glossiness suits this shade so well as it makes my lips look a little plumper without being too noticeable or intense. When the colour does fade, it does so evenly.
I’ve been SO impressed with this lipstick and I can totally recommend, if you get the chance, having a swatch of the range. There seems to be a colour or two for everyone.
