Budget Beauty Week / Foundations, Concealers & Face Powders

Budget Beauty Week - Best Drugstore Foundations, Concealers and Powders - Innoxa Age Erase Serum Foundation, Rimmel Match Perfection, L'Oreal Infallible Matte, Rimmel Wake Me Up, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte, Models Prefer Soft Touch Powder, Savvy by DB CC PowderRumours are starting to fly about Priceline’s next 40% cosmetic sales so I thought it’d be the perfect time to get serious about budget beauty. This whole week of posts will be devoted to my favourites bits that you can find in the drugstore so it might be worth getting your wish list ready…

We’re starting with all things base – foundations, concealers and face powders. I’ve picked my top three for each category (it was hard to narrow it down, seriously). I didn’t mention primers simply because I don’t have a lot in my collection at the moment from the drugstore but the Face of Australia Face Base Primer would be my pick of the bunch.

Foundations –

Innoxa Age Erase Serum Foundation* – Perhaps my most loved base of all, it never fails me. Whenever my skin’s acting up or my makeup doesn’t want to cooperate I come back to this beauty. Essentially foolproof to apply, wears well and actually has a shade in the range that matches me. I think I’ll be picking up a backup in the sale… I’ve done a full write up here.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – Another one that just seems to work every time I reach for it. It’s a thinner base but still manages to cover everything I need it to. A great one if you struggle trying to find a match for your skin as the range is fairly extensive. I’ve done a full write up here.

L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation – If your skin is a little oilier or you just like a matte finish, I’ve been so impressed with how this one has performed lately and it’s totally worth trying out. It lasts so well and makes my skin look matte yet still radiant. I’ve done a full write up here.

Concealers –

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer – I forgot about this one for the longest time but lately, I’ve been reaching for it a bunch for either under the eyes as an easy pick-me-up or dotting a tiny bit on spots. It blends in really easily and never goes cake-y.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – My go-to for anything spot related because it always looks so seamless! So many people seem to love this one and I can totally understand why, I’m considering picking up a second to just keep in my handbag at all times!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind ConcealerMaybelline know how to do a good concealer, this is my other favourite from the brand, perfect for under the eyes because it’s so thin and so blendable but still manages to brighten up my under eyes like nothing else.

Powders –

Savvy by DB CC Powders – I was so intrigued since the first moment I saw these and they really haven’t let me down. Considering how cheap they are, they do an awesome job of colour correcting (with the Anti-Redness shade) and brightening (with the Brightening shade) while also making makeup last longer and set in place.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – I’m sure you can tell from the amount of pan on this product that I’m a bit of a fan – this stuff mattifies like nobody’s business and the effects actually last throughout the day too. Even if the packaging is a little dodgy, it’s still well worth a look.

Models Prefer Soft Touch Powder – Another product that definitely doesn’t receive the hype that it deserves! They’re the kind of powders that you throw on for a bit of extra glow and finishing power, similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, but I’m always really impressed with how it performs.

Make sure to keep reading for the rest of the week, I’ll hopefully be covering all of your bases, preparing you for a good old shop at the Priceline cosmetics sale in a couple of weeks time…

Love Stay Matte and the Wake Me Up concealer! I have been meaning to try the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation – guess I know what I’ll be buying come sale time!

I feel like this is going to make me sound snobby but I actually haven’t tried hardly any budget base products! I think I’m just a creature of habit so when I find a high end powder I like i just stick to it.

    • Not snobby at all, it’s always so hard to know what’s good from the drugstore! Lots of trial and error

  • I heard it’s going to be 50% off?!? I hope so lol. I’m DEFINITELY going to pick up a MP soft touch powder, hopefully they have the shade I want. Also planning on checking out their brushes, and the Max factor primer. They’ve reformulated Match Perfection and the shade range has been culled :(( I had a swatch and I don’t think any of the shades will match me!

    • I think it’s only 40 this time around, how amazing would 50 be though! I intend on getting so many MP brushes hahah they’re incredible! So frustrating that they’re culling the shade range of a foundation that’s meant to have a match for everyone, hopefully I still have a match!

  • Age rewind concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte powder are my two go to products! I also enjoy a bit of Maybelline BB cream.

  • I’m in the market for a new concealer for under eyes and if I can find a good drugstore one, I’ll be happy – might have to give the Rimmel one a go!

  • Oh dear, that’s annoying! Hopefully a good primer will help! It is so lightweight, you’re right!
