The Mauve Lip Line Up

The Mauve Lip Line Up - Buxom Hooligan, Boe Professional Diva, L'Oreal Rose Saphir, Australis Samba, Rimmel Celestial, Essence Satin Mauve

So I know I said that with the impending warm Spring weather, I’d be switching up my lip colours, incorporating more peaches, but I’m a creature of habit and mauves have been where it’s at for the last few months. I’ve mentioned my love for a mauve-y, pink-y lip quite a bit but I realised that I hadn’t actually rounded up my favourites in the mauve category, so we’d better fix that.

Buxom Full Bodied Lipstick in Hooligan –

This little mini has been lying around for almost a year now and for a while there it was feeling pretty unloved but lately, I’ve been digging it’s brownish take on the mauve lip. It looks really natural, just a little darker than my natural lip colour but it just pulls the whole look together The formula is beautiful, creamy and really comfortable.

Boe Professional Super Shine Lipstick in Diva

Every time I pull this lipstick out, I’m amazed by how awesome it is, considering you can pick these up for less than $9, I think. This is a slightly pinker mauve and maybe my favourite of the whole bunch. The formula seriously glides onto the lips and it wears really well.

L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in 266 Rose Saphir*

This one is the newest of the bunch, only coming to my attention earlier in the week. But as soon as I swatched it, I knew it was love. It’s a similar colour to Diva, but the formula is slightly sheerer and has a hint of glitter in it (don’t worry, it’s not the gross gritty stuff). Again, it wears beautifully on the lips with a little bit of glossiness to it and the sheerer formula means that it would be an awesome way for a beginner to try out a mauve lip.

Australis Colour Inject Lipstick in Samba

I mentioned this beauty recently while rounding up some other Australis products and said that it was easily one of my most reached for lipsticks. Yep, I stand by that claim. This is another slightly browner mauve which makes it SO wearable and it honestly does go with any look that I wear.

Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial –

Nobody ever really mentions the Apocalips range from Rimmel but I’ve been a fan since they first landed in Australia. These liquid lipsticks are so pigmented and stay on the lips for ages. If I feel like something a little glossier or I feel like straying some the conventional lipsticks, Celestial is what I reach for. It’s another pinky mauve that looks awesome worn glossy or blotted down for a slightly more subtle look.

Essence Lip Liner in Satin Mauve

Everyone seems to love the Essence lip liners and I can completely understand why, they’re such high quality considering you can buy them with pocket change. Satin Mauve has a bit of a cult following because it’s a lovely browny, purple-y mauve that works so well with any of the lipsticks that I’ve already mentioned or just all over the lips by itself.

The Mauve Lip Line Up - Buxom Hooligan, Boe Professional Diva, L'Oreal Rose Saphir, Australis Samba, Rimmel Celestial, Essence Satin MauveL to R: Buxom Hooligan, Boe Professional Diva, L’Oreal Rose Saphir*, Australis Samba, Rimmel Celestial, Essence Satin Mauve.

As you can see, there’s quite a few on rotation when it comes to my mauve lip line up but they’re all awesome for their own reasons.

Are you a fan of the mauve lip?
