It’s here. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators have been popping up in my Instagram feed for months now and I’ve been desperate to get my hands on one. So you can imagine my excitement when one of the beauties finally landed on my doorstep yesterday morning. Angels sang when I opened the compact to that beautiful powder and the camera came out so I could snap a few pics of the design before messing it up with my fingers.
I couldn’t decide on which shade I wanted to purchase when they all went live on the website, they were all so flipping pretty and there weren’t a lot of swatches around so I went with Riviera, the rose gold from the collection. Needless to say I have my eyes on the other three in the collection after falling in love with this one and seeing more and more swatches pop up of the others in the collection.
The formula is beautiful. When swatched with a finger (lightly, I didn’t want to ruin the design too much!) it’s super pigmented and creamy and because of the design on the powder, a brush picks it up beautifully too, effortlessly applying just the right amount of product to the cheekbones. It’s first impressions, sure, but so far, I’m so in love. Needless to say, after applying copious amounts to my cheekbones yesterday I spent a few minutes just admiring my cheekbones in the light.
I was surprised by how light the shade was when I swatched it on my skin, I was expecting something a little darker but I’m definitely not complaining – Riviera is the perfect pinky highlight on me. It looks entirely natural on my skin but shows up beautiful in the light. It’s far from those highlighter shades that have a tendency to look a little too noticeable or stripy on the cheekbones. It’s glowy without being too in your face.
As you can see from the comparison swatches, Riviera is like nothing else I have in my collection – noticeably more rosy than the other highlighters in my stash. This means that it looks seriously gorgeous with my pink undertones. Honestly, I can’t recommend these enough.
I sense an early(ish) contender for my September favourites…
Have you picked up any of these ABH highlighters? Which is your favourite shade from the range?
