Bare Minerals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener

Bare Minerals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener in Luminous 1Who doesn’t want bright, highlighted under-eyes? They can make all of the difference between looking like you’ve had 3 hours sleep or 8 hours sleep. There’s been a new favourite in town lately to make sure that I’m always looking bright eyed and bushy tailed.

The Bare Minerals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener in Luminous 1 has been changing the game lately for me when it comes to brightening up under the eyes. It’s a thin, slightly peachy concealer that I apply after a touch of concealer and blend out in that inverted triangle shape. It doesn’t have much coverage to it so I tend to use it as an added step over the top of a concealer to give it that extra oomph. It corrects any of the blue-ish tones and has a subtle brightening effect that really makes a difference to the finished face, I feel. It’s subtle but that little bit of extra help under the eyes makes me look more awake and draws attention away from that blue discolouration that I get.

I’m also a huge fan of the applicator. It’s not quite your average doefoot. It’s long and flat and actually quite soft and bendy which means that it’s not pulling harshly on the sensitive skin around the eyes like some of those stiffer applicators can do.

My previous favourite for the job had been Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer in the Brightener shade, which I still love, but since it’s been discontinued I’ve been looking elsewhere. Stroke of Light is more salmon-toned and does a better job of actually correcting rather than the Maybelline which is more of a really light pink and has a tendency to look a little stark on even my very pale skin. I find the Bare Minerals formula to be thinner and more effortless to blend.

  • This looks good, I haven’t tried anything from Bare Minerals yet ! What would you recommend as the first purchase ?

    • I also really love the Complexion Rescue base that they brought out recently and I’ve heard lots of great things about their other base products, particularly their primers! 🙂 Hope that helps!

  • Love the look of this! The shade looks perfect too, I really prefer more yellow-based concealers for under the eyes. Even though people say pink is better, but it just looks really old and un-matched to the rest of my skintone. I’m actually using a Bare Minerals eye brightener as well (called Well-Rested). It’s less of a concealer though because it’s more pearly and sheer but great at illuminating the area. And the Maybelline instant age rewind brightener is discontinued!?? No wonder I can never find it! Haha.

    • Yeah, it’s all about your skins undertones – if pink doesn’t work for you then go for more yellow based ones! I have Well Rested in my cupboards too and really like it! And yeah, it was discontinued a couple of months ago, I stocked up and bought like 4 tubes because I’m a crazy person… hahah

  • This looks great! Might have to have a look into this product!

  • This is a good one!

  • haha glad it helped! 🙂

  • Ah yes, I went through the phase where I wouldn’t use anything but NARS Creamy Concealer on my face! haha my dark circles are definitely a little too pronounced to use this one on it’s own but it’s a nice little extra step if I get the time 🙂
