A lot of brands on the drugstore have been releasing killer lip products lately but none quite as good as these Colour Drama Lipsticks from Maybelline. Pigmented, bright crayons of colour that have been receiving a whole lot of love and attention in the beauty world and for very good reason.
I was so excited when I first got to swatch them and was happy to see that the shade range is seriously great. It covers anything you could need, really, while delivering a punch of long-lasting colour to the lips. I love the crayon format, somehow they’re super precise to apply to your lips and stay put well, wearing off in a nice way and leaving a stain (with the brighter colours, at least) behind. They’re so creamy that I struggle to believe that they’re only $9.95AUD.
Nude Perfection has been receiving a bit of hype lately as a close dupe to MAC’s Velvet Teddy – this brownish nude colour has been very in lately and I’m quite a fan. It’s brown-based but it has enough nude in it that it’s not too dark for my complexion.
Minimalist was the first from the range that I picked up and probably the one I’m least impressed with. This shade has noticeable chunky, glitter particles in it that annoyed me from the get-go and tend to remain on the lips after the colour itself has worn off. Although the light pink is nice, the glitter aspect is a bit of a downfall to this one.
Fuchsia Desire is straight up gorgeous. I’ve been digging colours like this lately and this is a super easy bright, blue-based pink that tends to look alright on me. As I mentioned, the brighter shades leave a stain behind when it starts to fade which is great news. Probably my favourite from my little stash.
Light It Up is the brighter, lighter red from the range (Red Essential seems a little darker and a little blue-r) and is another gorgeous shade. Super creamy and dries matte but remains comfortable – it’s a great cheap option for those looking for a no-fuss, beginners red lipstick.
As you can probably tell, I’m such a huge fan of these new additions to the Maybelline line. It takes quite a bit of effort for me to stop myself from buying the whole range. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually…
Have you tried these lipsticks? What do you think of them?
