Now we all know make-up is my one true love but today we’re taking things into the fragrance world with a little peek into my perfume collection. I never tend to buy perfume – most of the ones in my collection have been gifts from friends and family so it’s a good thing they have good taste (and listen to my hinting)! Big props to Fragrantica for all of the info on the notes, I’d be lost if I was trying to describe these scents all by myself!
We’ll start with the favourites – I’ve spoken about these two before but nothing has changed, they’re my go-to scents for every day. BCBG Max Azria (more info here) is fruity, sweet and fresh – with a serious dose of cherry and a little bit of musk – and I love it. I find it doesn’t last too long unless I’m liberal with the spritzes but I’m willing to go the extra mile.. Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb (more info here) has been my favourite for years now, I’m not even sure how long, and this bottle has lasted me well. It’s still sweet and fruity to me but with more of a patchouli kick, making it slightly more mature than BCBG.
Next we’ll go onto the section of my collection that’s dedicated to my love for Marc Jacobs scents. I have two full-sizes and then mini sizes of Daisy, Daisy Eau So Fresh, Lola and Dot thanks to this little set. Oh Lola! (more info here) was my first love from the Marc Jacobs range. It’s really young and sweet (ok, we’re all sensing a theme here…) and I simply love the raspberry and pear notes. Daisy Dream (more info here) is one of the more recent releases from the brand and admittedly, not my favourite from the range. It’s still fruity but the wisteria in the notes makes it a little weaker, and it doesn’t last very well on me.
I have a few in my collection now that are my go-to’s for feeling grown up and mature. Bvlgari’s Rose Essentielle (more info here) is, as you might’ve guessed, a straight up rose scent and always reminds me of my mother, who frequently wears rose perfumes. It’s such a lovely mix of floral and musk and I always love to wear it. I am SO lucky that L’Occitane send their perfumes through to me to try, I love each and every one that they release. L’Occitane Arlesienne* (more info here) will always hold a special place in my heart as it’s launch was my first blogger event. It’s floral but spicy but sweet. Whatever it is, I’m all for it and reach for it more and more nowadays. L’Occitane Fleurs de Cerisier* (more info here) is a cherry blossom scent with watermelon and lemon. It’s SO fresh and I wore it basically non stop when Melbourne was having warmer weather. L’Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc* (more info here) is being released tomorrow in stores and is perhaps the most grown up fragrances I own. Funnily enough it’s main note is iris but it’s also got peach and ylang ylang hidden in there. It’s so beautiful and rich and delicious.
I’ve also got a few cheap thrills in my perfume collection that still get a whole lot of loving. Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy (more info here) has been in my life since I was about 13 but I’m still completely obsessed with it. It’s so fruity and sweet but has a little bit of vanilla and musk so I always end up applying this when I go out at nighttime, no shame here for celebrity fragrances. Kate Moss Kate (more info here) is a more musky, spicy affair but it wears really well on me and is another good one for nights out. Lady Gaga’s Fame (more info here) was given to me by a friend and even though I never would’ve thought to pick it up myself I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely and honey-y it is. Victoria’s Secret Gorgeous Fragrance Mist (more info here) was an impulse purchase while in Melbourne Airport years ago and I never really reach for it. It’s your standard white floral but handy for travel as it has a plastic bottle. The So…? EDT* (more info here) was mentioned quite recently and as I said there, the vanilla notes make this a good one for night time.
You can see that I’ve got a bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to perfume samples so I won’t mention them all but some favourites from this bunch are Tocca Cleopatra, YSL Parisienne, Narciso Rodriguez For Her and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I’ve gotten most of the samples from this amazing website called Surrender to Chance where you can buy decants and fragrance samples to try out before buying the full thing.
As for how I store them, I have them all displayed in this whatchamacallit that I found in The Reject Shop but it’s hard to take a photo of it in it’s normal location as there’s never any sun on it (it’s good for the perfumes longevity, yo!)
As you can see, I’m definitely not in need of any more fragrances but I love having the choice every morning.
What’s your signature scent? What’s on your perfume wishlist?
