When you open my nail polish drawer (yes, there’s a drawer, I’m only moderately ashamed of that), you can see pretty quickly which brand is my favourite – Essie nail polish. I basically cover the whole rainbow in my collection and I always return to their colours when I’m not sure what to paint on my nails. Here is my humble little collection… (sarcasm, obviously)
Fifth Avenue – a red-orange beauty.
Trombone – a slightly sheerer raspberry red but one that I really love whenever I wear it. Although I bought it mostly for the name (little known fact – I used to play the trombone).
Jag-U-Are – probably my favourite of the red bunch, a blue-y red with a golden gleam to it.
After Sex – wahey, a risque name. A similar one to Jag-U-Are but slightly more purple.
Scarlett O’Hara – again, similar to the previous two but deeper. Do I need all three? No…
Leading Lady – a deep red with a whole lot of glitter running through it.
A Crewed Interest – a light peach colour.
Meet Me At Sunset – a deep orange shade.
Absolutely Shore – the perfect mint.
Mint Candy Apple – an Essie classic, I love it – it’s a sort of robin’s egg blue-green.
Where’s My Chaffeur? – straight up teal.
Naughty Nautical – deeper teal with a bit of silver shimmer.
Rock The Boat – light, light blue with a teensy bit of shimmer.
Bikini So Teeny – darker and bolder than Rock The Boat, another favourite.
Coat Azure – my very first Essie polish, a medium blue with a bit of shimmer.
In The Cab-ana – a bright aqua/teal (I struggled deciding whether to put it with the greens or the blues)
Strut Your Stuff – bright, in your face, almost neon mid-blue.
Mesmerise – a royal dark blue.
Style Cartel – my most recent Essie purchase, the perfect not-too-dark navy.
After School Boy Blazer – an almost black shade but in some lights it’s deep dark navy.
Go Ginza – beautiful lavender, perfect for Spring, I’ve found.
Sexy Divide – a shimmering deep purple (looks cool in the bottle too)
Sole Mate – a deep, dark berry – I wear this one to death in winter.
Ballet Slippers – the ultimate Essie shade. A sheer, pale pink.
Sugar Daddy – very similar to Ballet Slippers but with a little bit of shimmer.
Jazz – A warm-toned beige. Another one I bought for the name (another fact, I used to play jazz trombone, yes I’m a little bit lame).
Chinchilly – I love this shade, a greyish taupe that looks oh so chic.
As I said, I truly cover most of the rainbow but what can I say, I love my Essie polishes. The bottle is classy, the brush is great and I can normally find them pretty cheap. At the moment they’re 2 for $20 at Priceline which is a pretty great deal so if any of these shades have caught your attention make sure you go and check it out!
