I am definitely not a fan of the price of MAC in Australia – it’s seriously crazy what they can get away with but when a 10% off cosmetics at Myer voucher started burning a hole in my pocket I headed down to the MAC counter and had a swatch. I tried on a Kylie Jenner fave and decided it looked a little ridiculous and in the end, settled for Lustering, an ‘outspoken pink’ in the Lustre formula, that had been at the top of my MAC wish list for quite some time.
I’ve been on a bit of a warm pink craze recently and this gorgeous medium-pink is definitely fitting the bill. I have one other Lustre formula, Patisserie, and it’s probably my favourite of my small bunch of MAC lipsticks and the formula fits this colour even better, I think. It’s comfortable to wear, it feels a little bit hydrating and it’s super buildable which I love. It makes my lips look really full and glossy and just generally I’m in love. Of course, with that slightly slippier feeling comes a not so amazing longevity but considering how easy it is to reapply and how it leaves a little bit of colour behind even when the gloss has worn off I’m not too upset.
Even though I don’t see the crazy hype surrounding MAC lipsticks and I definitely don’t feel the need to own every last one of them (unlike Pokémon), the range still has some gorgeous colours and formulas. One day, maybe, I’ll do a US MAC order and stock up on the others on my wish list but until then I’ll be very happy with the 4 I own (5, hopefully, after the Cinderella release…)
What’s your MAC lipstick recommendation for me?
