I’ve got some good news and some bad news today, beauty lovers. The good news is that if you’re a fan of creamy eyeshadow sticks then I’ve found the one for you. The bad news is that it costs a pretty penny and once you’ve bought one you’re going to want them all. By Terry is about as luxury as it gets, really, and arguably one of their most popular products is their Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow. I picked one up a while ago in a moment of weakness, going for the shade Frozen Quartz, and now it’s fair to say that I’m hooked.
When it comes to creamy, super blend-able formulas this is seriously it. My normal approach is to apply a bit straight to the lid and pat it out until I’ve reached my desired level of gorgeousness (the eyeshadow, not me – oh dear…). You’ve got a bit of time to play with it before it sets comfortably to stay all day long. Today I’m wearing it all over the lid with some other shadows over the top (it actually manages to make other shadows look better too) but other days, when I’m in a rush or just don’t have the patience to try and make other eyeshadows work in my favour, I just go for this by itself for something that looks like you’ve put in more effort than you actually have. Needless to say, the golden packaging is super luxe, with the weighty feel we all love when it comes to high end beauty buys.
Frozen Quartz is a rose gold shade which is seriously just perfect, no joke, even if it doesn’t look like much at first glance. It’s got just the right amount of pink, just the right amount of sheeny shimmer, just perfect. When you blend it out the shimmer becomes significantly less intense but beautiful in it’s own way and I find that it really brings out the blue in my eyes, which is always good. As you can see I have quite a few similar shades but none of them are quite rosy or dark enough to count as a dupe.
Swatches, left to right: NYX Glam Shadow in Rose Gold, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold, Bobbi Brown Shadow Stick in Golden Pink, By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yoghurt, Rimmel Shadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige, NYX Infinite Shadow in Rose Gold.
My list of shades that I want to add to my collection is about as long as my arm but for $56 dollars a pop it might take me a while before I bite the bullet and pick up more. I told you they cost a pretty penny! But I assure you, if you’re wandering around Mecca with money burning a whole in your pocket just head on over to the By Terry stand and have a swatch – you’ll fall in love. Hope you’re all having a lovely Valentines Day, too!
