You know those times you’re shopping and you’re just set on purchasing something but there are too many things you want to actually narrow it down to just one? That’s what happened to me when I went to visit the new Mecca Cosmetica flagship on Toorak Road a few weeks ago (yes, it was truly gorgeous) so after a very long time wandering around with a hand full of swatches I actually ended up getting something I’d never even looked at before but suddenly needed – the Mecca Cosmetica Blush Brush – a true impulse buy.
I’d been on the lookout for a while now for the perfect blush brush and this one looked like the perfect, slightly tapered shape and from the mandatory swish across the back of the hand I was in love with the softness of it’s bristles. The bristles were just the right density for blending, I’d say. It was less dense than the Ecotools Tapered Blush Brush, that I’d used in the past and a teensy bit smaller which made it shoot up the ranks pretty quickly. I got it home and tried it out the next day and it was lovely – it picked up the right amount of powder, was a good size for my cheeks and blended things out until they looked just right.
But there’s a teensy problem that has come to my attention after a few more uses – this brush has a tendency to shed. It’s not a huge problem for me, only happening on a rare occasion but after reading reviews on the website it seems that it’s a problem across the board. For $45 you’d expect something of high quality. I stand by the fact that this brush is perfect for applying blush but the shedding stops it from getting a complete rave review from me. I feel sure there are blush brushes out there that give the same results without the inconvenient shedding.
