NARS was one of the first higher end brands that I got into and since then my collection has grown pretty steadily. Their packaging is just so aesthetically pleasing (but very annoying to clean). I’ve got a little bit of everything from their range – some bases, some blushes, an eyeshadow duo and a lipstick and it’s about time they got their own little post on my blog.
Let’s start with the NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, first of all it’s amazing that they even have a shade match for me considering that NARS Sheer Glow and I were never meant to be (#palegirlproblems). I have the shade Terre Neuve which is described as their lightest shade with a neutral pink undertone. This stuff is absolutely amazing, it was love from first use. After blending it in with my fingers or a big fluffy brush I’m left with natural looking glowy loveliness that stays put all day. I really can’t recommend this enough, it really converted me back to tinted moisturisers and BB creams. A whole post on this baby is on it’s way soon…
This product has already had it’s moment here but it can’t be denied that the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (I have the shade Vanilla) is a pretty amazing product. It works well for both under the eyes and on blemishes and makes everything look like skin, just really flawless skin, with none of that cake-iness. I think Chantilly might have to come home with me soon too.
NARS are perhaps best known for their blush collection, full of risque names and even bolder colours but my foray into the NARS Blush family has lead to a selection of peachy pink shades that are all heavenly. Orgasm and Deep Throat were both mini sized ones that I received in the Mecca Beauty Loop boxes but that’s alright with me because they’re adorable and I have so much blush that I can’t ever seeing myself hitting pan on any of them but if I did I think a repurchase of Deep Throat would be necessary. The other, larger shade is Daydream which was a limited edition offering from the Guy Bourdin collection (sorry people, but it’s actually quite similar to Deep Throat) but I love this one when I just want to look a bit more perked up and awake.
I constantly forget to apply eyeshadow primer in the morning but since finding the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base I’ve been remembering more and more simply because of the difference this makes. Not only does this make your eye make-up super duper long lasting it also makes everything look smoother and more put together, I reckon there’s a bit of magic involved with this one because I haven’t found an eye primer that has done as good a job as this one.
There are some pretty vivid eyeshadows in the NARS range but there are also some lovely every day shades. After much consideration, I picked up the NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Kalahari, described as gold confection and sugared cocoa. These shades work so well together and I have been known to take only this duo with me on weeks away. Both colours look gorgeous by themselves all over the lid or mixed together with the darker colour in the crease.
The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows are a newer release from the brand that are designed to apply either wet or dry, depending on the finish you want. I have the shade Dione, a very shimmery champagne-y colour that I tend to use wet due to the shimmer factor. There can be a teensy bit of fallout otherwise. The colour comes off slightly darker and more intense when applied wet. I think I need to pick up another more ‘me’ shade in these because the formula is lovely, I just don’t find myself really reaching for the colour.
And finally, my one lonely NARS Lipstick (ultimately you need four to get the full NARS across the packaging, totally necessary). Niagara is the perfect sheer pinky coral shade, great for every day make up or when I just need a bit of extra something. The formula is pretty hard and it takes a bit of warming up to get the desired amount of colour onto my lids but it stays on the lips pretty well for a sheer lipstick and I’m sure I’ll be going back for more lip products from the brand (I have my eye on a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil or two).
